Another Reason I Don't Watch Reality Shows

Scanning the news headlines on my ISP Home Page, a headline about New York City Officials blasting the concept of the newest "Survivor" show caught my eye. It appears that the new season of this popular reality show will initially break up the contestants into "tribes" based on their race or ethnicity. Apparently there will be four tribes: Caucasians, African-Americans, Asian-Americans and Hispanic-Americans. I have to agree with the Officials from New York; this has got to be one of the most ill conceived ideas I have ever heard of. With all of the hate in the world today, what were the producers of this program thinking when they made the decision to segregate the contestants in this fashion. If any one "tribe" excels over the others in the competitions, it will only serve to fuel the ignorant hate mongers. While it is acceptable for entertainment programs to occasionally be insightful, it is unacceptable for them to be inciteful. Hopefully, the producers of the show will reconsider this ill-conceived concept before filming starts.

I had intended to reflect my mood for this post as "disgusted", but it is not one ofthe choices, so I settled for enraged.
