Building a Healthy ego

A high sense of self esteem can help us to perform better in our career as well as social life.

It takes self discipline and training to build a healthy ego.

Here are some effective ways:

(1) Create a positive portfolio
Compile articles on self acceptance. Jot down memorable quotes. Make a note when you have done something well, when someone compliments you and when you have been assertive.

(2) Learn to say "no"
People want others to think well of them or at least, not to be angry with them. When you try to please everyone, you reinforce the weakness in your ego. This can create resentment and anger.Do only what you are willingly to do, do not let yourself be forced into doing anything. Learn to say no.

(3)Identify your talent
There are certain things you do well and things you know you can do better.Recognise your natural talents.Do not moan the lack of certain qualities.Appreciate that everyone has different strengths.

(4) Do not make comparisions
Stop comparing yourself with others. Each of us is unique and special in our own right.Do not waste time envying the success of other people.

(5) Stay positive
Associate with positive, upbeat people.Stay away from people who do not accept you as you are.

(6) No one is perfect
Remember that everyone has faults and imperfections. Most of the time, these are not visible. So, do not punish yourself for you short-comings.Learn to accept youself as you are.

(7) Face problems
Problems may be opportunities in disguise. If you learn to face problems and develop appropriate skills to solve them, they will turn out to be opportunities for you too.

A healthy ego consists of both self-confidence and self-respect .

Our ego define our sense of self. It identifies us as distinct and unique.

Therefore, having a healthy ego, we can relate to others, compassionate , strong, free of fear and non-manipulative.

On top of that, a healthy ego person is truthful and unafraid to see and deal with reality as it is. She is goal oriented and will persist until the goal is achieved and still maintain the flexibility to change.

She will always come with a opended mind, innovative and willingly to learn new ways of doing things and resolving problems .
