Broken heart

Just before going to bed last night I was switching channels and watched as the families of the miners in the West Virginia coal mine cried with tears of joy that twelve of the miners had been found alive and one was found dead. As I sat and watched this coverage, I was trying to remember when I had last seen true joy. I mean the type of joy you see in a mothers eyes during delivery of a newborn. In many ways these folks, kin or not, were celebrating as one family. I watched this coverage for over an hour and a half. Upon waking, I learned the horrible news that only one man has survived and twelve were deceased. My heart was truly broken.

This incident has the power to turn those of faith away from god. My prayer for these people receive god's grace.

During this time of mourning and loss it is very hard to see that any grace has been given to these families. But let us not forget.

One miner is still alive.

yes, this event makes everyday problems seem so trivial. The one thing that sticks in my head is the one man who's brother was inside there. He said, "We both work this mine and we both love working this mine." An edited moment later when the correspondant asked if the missing brother was older or younger and the man started to break down. Very sad thing to see. Best hopes go to my fellow Virginians living in a slightly westerly state.
