Itsallfun1957's Holiday Message; draft # 2.

I tried posting this earlier in the day, but either the traffic was too heavy or that version was not meant to be. So here goes draft # 2.

My last post yesterday (12/23/05) was very Scrooge-like. In all fairness, I posted that hours before my son's arrival to celebrate an early Christmas since I'm working on Christmas Day. He got to my house later than expected due to traffic and delays while last minute shopping for gifts.

We went out for dinner at one of our favorite neighborhood bistros in Decatur and had a marvelous time. Later that night, he reluctantly opened his presents. His reluctance was from waiting too long to find a suitable gift.

My comment was that his visit and company was a far better gift than anything he could buy me. Call it gratitude, spirit, or a combination of both; the gift of being a parent is a reason to celebrate not just one day each year, but every day.

Just to watch your child quickly grow towards adulthood, despite the occasional growing pain and difficulties is a miracle in itself. Seeing the best characteristics of both his Mom and myself as qualities he'll continue to foster and mold into who he will eventually become is amazing at the very least.

My holiday message is to cherish who you have as a part of your life, do not ever take them for granted, and always remember your experiences with them are yours forever. Learn from the past, live the present, and look forward to the future where-ever it may lead. Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, and Happy Holidays.>>>itsallfun1957
