Do we really follow the advice we so easily give?

The question should be; do I really follow the advice I so easily give? No! Remember the old adage do as I say, not as I do? Well, yes and I am fairly consistent on this behavior. To be a parent, is to be human. Frailties and all.

I would like to believe that this is human behavior. If so then some of the responsibility is off my shoulders and left to genetics and survival of the fittest. Weak? Damn right.

Some of my imperfections I truly embrace, because if I choose not to then the consequences will be dire. I am who I am, not perfection by any means. I recognize this is the best I can do for now and I'm comfortable with this. To borrow from another group of like-minded individuals who have reminded me that it's OK not to be perfect; progress not perfection is a good way to live. Have a great remainder of the weekend.>>>iaf1957

I often preach the "do as I say, not as I do" sermon! Why don't you come on over and dance naked with us at LAST CAMPFIRE OF THE SUMMER! And be sure you at least say "hi" so we know you're there!

Hello iaf1957,

My children used to often complain why they had to do something and often told me, "well Papa does it so why can't we?", I would quickly remind them from time to time that I did not raise their father but their grandparents did but I am responsible to teach them as their parent. It usually ended their complaints.
It is tough but I did my best and would openly ask forgiveness if I fell short of what I ought to have done. I made no excuses for my flaws.
I believe one's flaws compared to another may vary greatly and easier to accept by it's owner and you may be the rarity whose flaws are very tolerable.

hugs,
flo

Flo, half of what I write is a catharsis of sorts, an outlet for some of those snakes to spill out. I'm very comfortable with what and who I am. I've made those apologies a good while ago. The way I view things is that a flaw is a flaw. The important piece is that in finding the positive then the movement is forward. I choose forward movement, that means I'm alive. I truly enjoy your thoughts and comments, they are from the soul.>>>iaf1957

I think it goes back to the saying it's easier said than done but honestly I mostly do what I advice others to do if not all the time.

I say be yourself and to hell with what someone else thinks. You have to live with your decisions and your actions daily. People come and go.

Until later
