Defining moments in sports that brought a tear to your eye.

I experienced one today when Jack Nicklaus walked alone up to the 18th green after posing for pictures with his playing partners and their caddies. A standing "O" at the British Open. To cap it, he birdies the hole.

My son looked at me like I had finally slipped and was ready for the home or an "Old Yeller" experience. I'm choked up and crying during a golf match. Believe me, I'm not ashamed. This did get me thinking about the greatest sporting moments that created such emotion for me.

There are three others that I still get emotional over when thinking about them. The first involves my son when he was 12 yrs old. It was the county swim meet at GA Tech, he was ranked 6th in the county in the butterfly, he placed 3rd.

The US Woman's Soccer team's win against China in the World Cup in PKs, I was screaming with tears streaming down my face. The Men's Olympic Hockey gold medal in 1980. Talk about an underdog and winning with such spirit and grace!

If anyone cares to comment, great. The question is: What is your most defining moment in sports that you have witnessed or been a part of?>>>itsallfun1957

I love golf but the commentators drive me nuts while Tiger won (which is fine) we would have had to watch him even if he didnt make the cut, the same with Jacks retirement for the 100th time.

Anyway the question professional sport dosnt bring any tears, but I agree family ones do, My son winning the junior canadian open karate championship now that made me cry.

Thank You for Your Time and Attention

Thanks for your comments. Sports is fleeting, family will always remain in our hearts and minds.
