Morning After Pill

The morning after pill has been approved. I say it was about time! I am glad that it is going to be available without a prescription. Personally, I am of the mind that the more preventive measures to pregnancy the better off the youth of today are. We know that kids and I mean children as young as 12 and 13 are having sex. We don't want to admit it but it is out there. If a pregnancy can be avoided I am all for it.

I don't believe that because condoms and other methods of preventing pregnancy are out there promiscuity is going to increase. I think it has the opposite effect. Children are having sex so why not stop pregnacies before they even have the chance to begin.

Of course, I am not saying that this should be used by teenage girls. Teenagers should abstain but that just isn't happening folks so this is an alternative in case other methods are not used. Teens being who they are can forget all about control once the hormones have kicked in and they are in the "moment." Women that are older also have another form available to them.

My concern is that moral organizations are going to try again to keep this from happpening. I want the morning after pill made availabe and now, not next year or the next century!

Please let me know what you all think!

We've had it available over the counter here in the UK for some time now and it's been a godsend for me on occasion. It's pricey without a prescription, but it's out there. Easily available from a pharmacy with only a couple of questions asked.

Saying that, unless the child tells you they've had unprotected sex in the first place, it's not of much benefit. How many girls tell their mothers, at the age of 12 or 13, they are sleeping with someone when they know they shouldn't ?

Children just want everything NOW - there will be nothing for them to look forward to as adults. There's a 15 yr old opposite me - she's had her nose pierced, her belly button pierced and her tongue pierced and her mother has given her permission to have a tattoo. She smokes and drinks and generally gets what she wants if she shouts loud enough (I hear her from across the street - she can shout !!!). She told me before she told her mother that she was having sex. I asked her if she was taking precautions and she said yes. Was she telling the truth, who knows. She's not my daughter, but if she got pregnant, her kid would end up on welfare and would, indirectly, be my responsibility.

I don't disagree that it's a good thing - but I question whether girls will be sensible enough to actually use it.

I agree with you 100%. Can't wait for the firestorm the religious right is going to have over this.....

Intre Pid,

Good blog keep it up.

As to the pill. I am so torn in several different directions. I could sit and discuss and argue this with you for hours. I have not decided in my mind if it is a positive or not. But, the pill is not about me it is about the population as a whole. I will have to get back with you on this one. Later, hope to see you in the near future so that you can give me some more of your thoughts on this.

Anything that will limit the amount of idiots that will have kids is good IMO.
