My 50th...Woo Hoo..... (Part One)

Yep…I know. I’m a late bloomer. Most everyone I know who’s been here as long as I have hit their 50th post a while back. I don’t like to rush though, so I just meander through my post when the urge strikes me, or if I have something I really need to say. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that my “tardiness” was established a long time ago. I also know that most people do a “50 Things About Me” post for their 50th, but again…I’ve ever been the rebel and see no reason to change that now. While you will definitely learn some things about me here ‒ it probably won’t be that big of a newsflash as most of you who so loyally come by every day already know most of these things about me. Some will call me naive and too trusting...but I'm ok with that...I'd rather be known as naive & trusting than wonderless and cynical. I've also decided to break it up into 3 mini's...would hate to overwhelm and/or bore you to tears. Right? Without further ado…I present to you my 50th…please treat it with care and don’t forget to come back by, sit at the “kitchen table” with me and share a nice cold glass of “real” Sweet Tea….

"50 Things I Believe….”

I believe that within every human resides at least the tiniest flame of goodness. Some of us are lucky enough to have the flame fanned until it’s brilliant, some have the flame put out long before they are even able to make that decision.

I believe that Angels are everywhere and they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and yes…even creatures.

I believe we all have lessons to learn in this life, some of us catch on quickly, most of us don’t and that’s why there are so many “old soul’s” running around.

I believe that laughter and a good sense of humor can solve any problem. It can heal a broken heart, or a broken spirit. We should share our laughter as often as possible.

I believe that “double standards” are a waste of time. In the eyes of the world, it should be ok for me to be as sexual, sensual and provocative as I want to be. Not that I worry much about this, but I just hate the way society has convinced our daughters that they are “sluts” if they have normal sexual urges, and our son’s that they are just captives of their hormones and the “evil” women who tempt them.

I believe that no one has the right to touch my body, drug me, or take what they want without my permission, even if I walk naked down the sidewalk.

I believe that it is our duty as human’s to look out for another, take care of one another, stand up for each other, pick up each other when we’ve fallen, and never, ever give up on each other. If this requires my time, my money, my resources…then so be it. I sure as hell can’t take any of that with me when I leave this planet.

I believe that the POWER of good people banded together will ALWAYS defeat the power of evil ‒ we only have to stand together, speak out and be prepared to go the distance.

I believe that homemade biscuits served with red-eye gravy and a hug from Mom will cure anything that might possibly be wrong with you.

I believe that tree’s have an energy that is older than time, and sometimes I am drawn to a particular tree and absolutely have to hug it. Perhaps in acknowledgment of all it’s seen, or perhaps just to be infused with all that beautiful energy.

I believe that remembering to "play" is as important as breathing. We should have a bit of "impish" playfulness within us at all times. I refer to mine as my "inner child"...and if I don't let her out to play she can get pretty bitchy.

I believe that every child should be loved, nurtured, cherished and protected. They are the greatest gifts we are ever given and should be treated as such. Not just "your" child...but all children.

I believe in long, slow, hot, deep, soul touching kisses that make my knees turn to rubber and my body burn to know the touch of your tongue elsewhere.

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

How appropriate that the New-Agey Wahine be the first to comment here.

Ya know Pix, half the time I imagine you running around Blogland with your crystals and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Plus, I'm glad you are here because you post even slower than I do.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

But I'm glad I can help you out. I do love to read your comments and thoughts here...and I love your blog as much. Such humor you have.

Curious that you post on the day of this meditation

"We need to save those Elders who cannot speak for themselves -- the trees." --Haida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders

The trees are the Elders of the Earth. Go to the forest or to the mountains and find a young tree. Then find and old tree. Spend time with each. Sit by the young tree and listen to your thoughts. Then move to an old tree and listen to your thoughts again. Just being in the presence of an old tree, you will feel more calm. Your thoughts will contain wisdom and your answers will be deeper. Why is this so? These old trees know more, have heard more and are the Elders of the Earth. We must ensure these trees live so we can learn from them.

impish_pixie replies on 6/7/2006 7:31 pm:
Everytime you visit and comment on my blog - I feel as if I have been touched by wisdom itself. You are a very astute man and I hope you don't mind if I call you my "elder". YES..we must save them...sometimes I hear them cry.

Thank you for the beautiful meditation...

Well thank you...and much have been digging around in my basement to have found this, which just totally blows my mind. I'd love to discuss your "lack" of belief in Angels...send me an email and lets talk.
