I hate falling for people

I think I am getting a bit too cynical in my old age. I really hate falling for people. I dislike having a defeatist attitude towards things, but sometimes it's justified.

It seems lately that if I fall for someone, it's guaranteed that they are going to dump me within a couple weeks. I came up with my 2 week rule to combat that, I don't get attached, they don't get attached and everyone is happy.

There are problems with this however. Anyone ever seen the movie "Tommy Boy"? Look at the scene where they are in the restaurant and Chris Farely wants to order some wings. He talks about how he loses sales because he gets so worked up about them, he drives em away.

Thats how I am when and if I get past 2 weeks, and it sucks. I've done the 2 weeks thing for so long that if someone lasts longer than that period of time, I just don't know what to do with myself. Uggh.

Nobody ever said that relationships where easy, I don't think that they would be worth it if they were, but damn, I have got to find a happy medium somewhere.
