Well, Blow Me!!!

Master Hansen slept under the stars the last two nights. Okay, so not quite under the stars... there was a thin layer of tent between his head and the deep blue infinity above.

After the first night, when questioned, Master Hansen had agreed that the ground beneath had been a little on the hard side, so I suggested an airbed. Seems all the best campers have them nowadays. He quickly agreed, and I dutifully trundled off to my local airbed supplier to get said bed and electronic pump to enable quick inflation.

I came home with the bed, but no pump. It seems my part of the world is out camping en masse. I wasn't too bothered though, as we have a footpump languishing in the garage, which gets used to pump up flat bike tyres, etc.

I sent Master Hansen off to dig out the footpump, while I unpacked the new airbed, and found the valve through which we would be pumping in the air. The manufacturers had thoughtfully provided a puncture repair kit for the bed (glue and a piece of flocked plastic), but as it was brand, spanking new, I tossed the repair kit to one side, and headed for the garden.

Cue footpump, connected to valve.

One foot.

Frantic pumping.

Up.

Down.

Up.

Down.

Squeek, squeek, squeek.

Damn, this bed sure is taking a l-o-n-g time to get any air into it!

More frantic pumping.

Up.

Down.

Up.

Down.

Squeek, squeek, squeek.

Sheeesh... it's no small wonder I'd rather spend my nights in hotelled luxury, than enduring mozzie-filled nights out in the open air. Master Hansen and I were non-plussed. The bed didn't even look as if it had ever seen air, never mind getting more air than the average car tyre could cope with!!

Master Hansen spent another night out under canvas.

Without his new airbed.

He obviously wasn't too bothered, as he slept a good few hours. More than a good few hours, actually. It must be a teen thing. I guess all that growing requires much sleep.

However, I digress.

It's back to school tomorrow, so Master Hansen and Mr Hansen packed up the tent, and I packed up the airbed.

As I was folding it, I discovered the deflation valve... a whacking, great BIG bloody OPEN hole at the top of the airbed.

Seems the seal for the deflation valve was in the puncture repair kit.

To those who doubted my blondness (looking sweetly at J)... 'nuff said.

Love, hugs and kisses from ♥♥HH♥♥
