Compliments/Words of Kindness

Strange day yesterday, worked as usual, but the minute I walked in it was a different day than the usual.
One of my co-workers looked at me and said, "you look fantastic, why did you bother doing that just to come into work here?
Next thing I know I'm standing in the elevator, one of the docs is on, looks at me, blushes furiously and says "you look absolutely beautiful"
In hindsight I probably should have said thank you but he threw me. I think thats because I'm my own worse critic, for some reason I just don't see what other people do.
Not really sure what I did different yesterday than I normally do but have to admit, it made me feel great. Surprising how simple words can change your entire day and thoughts about yourself.
Also, not really sure I like this but work has been adding responsibilities to the job, throwing more things for me to do at me. Most of the time what I want to say is "Look, I don't actually work FOR YOU, I'm contracted to work here, so throw that all that sudden added responsibility at your own staff.
At the same time though, it makes you feel good because they have faith in your abilities and know that you can get the job done better.
Still on the fence about that.

And perhaps it's just a confidence you are radiating. I know from reading some of your fairly recent blogs you have been going through some tough times. Perhaps yesterday was just one of those days when your self-confidence and self-esteem was at a high point and everyone else around you could just pick up on it. So you felt better, looked better, and were also in a mood to to appreciate compliments. GOOD FOR YOU!
