Eternally Dissatisfied

What is it about humans, at least some of us, to always be looking for greener grass, higher yields, the bigger better bling? We churn in our dissatisfaction with a lack of spiritual security.

What will it require for us to find relationships, aquisition of 'stuff', experiences... to be sufficient to finally allow us to be happy?

Is it possible that without some centering force to guide us, we spend our lifetimes searching for the bigger better model? Only to look back when we are dying to notice that we never quite got there? What a sad and scary thought!

Let me, today, find peace in the moment. I have enough food, shelter, companionship at this moment to be satisfied. I trust my mind to make the decisions and choices that may arise in the future. And I know that good things may or may not come my way, but in the looking is the loss.

I often wonder if it is simply a human trait to always want more, or a learned response for years of exposure to marketeers. To find happiness is certainly the grail. Stuff is nice, but as long as the basics are covered and the source of the next meal or mortgage payment is not in doubt, relationships seem to be the key. Finding the one is not easy, but enjoy the strengths of those encountered on the journey.
