Farewell to Sheriff Solar

SolarPowered0, bid us farewell in his blog on April 30. I have been saddened by this and have felt a sense of loss since then. Solar really made the website fun. He had a great sense of humor and excellent writing skills. His comments on the Advice Line were humorous, insightful and always on target. He didn't tolerate bullshit and gave an honest opinion whenever he posted. His role as Sheriff and creating the AL deputies was a masterstroke. His blog was one of the more enjoyable blogs on the website. It was a big loss for the website when he left.

Personally, he meant a lot to me. I respect him very much. He would send me emails and we would joke about a lot of things and discuss issues that came up. Sometimes on cold Sunday afternoons in the winter, we would both be logged on at the same time and would have almost instant exchanges on the website. It was a a lot of fun. That is where he got a lot of his material about me that he used in his blog about about the AL deputies at the jail house. I learned a lot from him. And more important, he gave me many manny moments of pleasure that I will always remember.

He accepted me as a person and as a buddy despite our age difference and my sexual activities. I will always be grateful for that. Although I have engaged in bisexual sexual activities, most of my life is straight. I cherish the straight relationships that I have with other men. They mean a lot to me. Not many straight men can handle being friends with a bisexual guy. No matter how good the straight relationship is, the fact that a guy is bisexual is always there and creates a dynamic in the relationship that would not be there if it were just two straight guys. Solar is definitely a straight guy. But he treated me very good. He did not understand how I could have done the bisexual things that I have done and certainly would not do them himself. I respected his preference for only straight sexual activities and he respected my preferences. Neither of us did an in-your-face about our sexuality. This certainly helped me grow as a person. I am moving away from bisexual activities and now am exclusively into heterosexual relationships. Solar was a big help to me in going through this phase of my journey through life. Who would ever have thought that joining a website for sex would lead to such good friendships that would have significant meaning in your life?

TheMisKrissy has beat me to the punch by copying the AL deputy list in her blog. I am copying a lot of the material from Solar's blog before the blog disappears. It will be a reminder of the good times we had.

I think that if the Advice Line had not fallen to the low estate that is in now, Solar might have stuck around. Blogging and being active on the Advice Line takes a lot of time. Once it stops being enjoyable it is time to rethink how one is going to spend his or her time. I have come close to leaving, but I stay because I enjoy the interaction with the people whom I have come to know through the blogs and the Advice Line. Bardicman said the same thing in his blog a few days ago. We are losing a lot of good people now that the Advice Line isn't as much fun. I miss seeing the comments of people who regularly responded. It just isn't as much fun.

Solar may be back someday. I hope so. And I hope that I am still on the website when he returns.

Solar, if you ever get to see this, you have been a great friend. I will miss you. I hope that our paths cross again in the future.

This is getting a little soggy but I really miss his presence on the website.

I have to admit that I've never read his stuff, but I think that you were very brave in being forthright about your feelings. And this is a wonderful post!

Not to take away from your great post about SolarPowered0, but I never emailed him on a regular basis but I was always eager and excited every time that mnfun952 had a new post. Then when I signed on and he didn't have anything new, I'd go back and read his older posts. I miss his presence on the site, he was funny and sexy and creative and intellgent, and I felt a huge loss when he was gone. His was the first blog I ever visited and then frequented.

Header- That was a very nice and heart warming of you to post this in honor of Solar. I totally applaud you! I actually took this to heart too- the words you say and the way you put them; I can feel the meaning behind it. (you made me cry!) I miss Solar too...very much! He always made sense. There's alot of times I recall that if I didnt quite understand something/someone, I'd know exactly who to ask. Solar. He'd always point me in the right direction. Yes, we talked on the phone a couple times too because of that.
Like I always told him....he is a very wise man! I will miss him every day he's not here.
Great post, Header! xoxoxox

Solar will be sorely missed I never got really close to him like you did. He was a very charismatic intelligent and wise man. He could pick a fight with the best of them and had a heart of gold. I do hope he eventually comes back he might who knows. I just hope that many others don't decide to follow in his footsteps.

I will miss his presence here greatly.

Awwwww, Sweetie, I do hope he sees this.

I'm a little confused, though... you stated this...
"And more important, he gave me many manny moments of pleasure that I will always remember."
Then went on in the next paragraph to tell us all about how STRAIGHT he is, and how Bi you are. HMmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

He is a Good Man. The only thing I didn't like about him is his reasons for not voting. Other than that, he is one helluva guy, and will be missed. I'm sure he'll be back. No one can ever vanish completely. God knows I tried!

You know header I don't do friendship. Sadly it is one of my failings. I did however like and respect Solar very much. He had a great wit and a very wide ranging vocabulary.

I have regrets about Solar. I liked him very much but did not like a lot of the people he hung about with. I think this is the reason we kept our distance. I have a feeling I angered him sometimes, but he was too much of a gentleman to flame me.

I miss him too and hope that he will be back, but don't you dare tell him I said that.

Sometimes things written tend to elicit spontaneous response which might lead to one's interaction with others becoming a catalyst for suspicion.

I ain't dead, Header... just incognito. *LMFAO* To all of you...

My deepest appreciation for your thoughts is all I have to offer.

Solar... (out of the clear blue of the Western Sky)

PS: Cousin Norm... you never angered me. As for the people I embrace... you may like or dislike them as you see fit, and I shall overlook that shortcoming in you, my friend.

Solar...Glad to know you are still "alive and kicking" somewhere out there.

I along with the others, miss "seeing and hearing" you too.

Take care and have a safe and wonderful summer!
