She's Human After All

Have you ever been so happy with the one you are with that to you she seemed perfect? So happy that you knew that there had to be a character flaw somewhere but you could not see it? In fact, you keep looking for it until you do find it and what does it turn out to be?

She’s afraid of bugs. She can’t stand the sight of the little critters and will go out of her way to avoid the miniature crawlers. If it is smaller than a few inches and has more than four legs and hair in all the wrong places, she freaks.

In retrospect, I got a hint of it when she was around some bees this last weekend. She fussed about it and explained that she would go into anaphylactic shock if stung. OK, I can buy that, the stings are venomous and to the wrong person even deadly. So shying away from bees is acceptable.

But it is all the other little creeps that get just as much. It is almost like the old cartoons where the “lady of the house” get on a chair and shrieks until her man can take of the mouse that is plaguing her. Comical.

Now, I am not making fun of her, in fact I find it endearing that she has something that will phase her and let me be macho around her. And if a shoe will do the job, then so be it… she is human after all and I can truly accept that. I love it because I was thinking it was all too good to be true. We all have our flaws, thank god.
