Seclusion

It’s been a couple of days since I have blogged. I have been in deep seclusion programming. Been to the site of many technical forums, been schooled by young whipper snappers who though they knew what they were talking about. Had to hear (or read) half baked suggestions on how things worked, and you know what… I still have it!

Turns out these kids don’t know an “||” (“OR” operator) from a “|” (“BITWISE OR” operator) and don’t even talk about data-types… amazing. How does industry do it? Schooling me on CSS and HTML? HA, I helped write the specs for HTML and CSS. I know this stuff… I know the traps, I know the schemas. What I did not know was PHP. What I did not know was the API involved in the project, I was reverse engineering plugin modules just to get them to work. Reading books and manuals and asking pointed questions with all the pertinent information included to get a knowledgeable response. What did I get? Gibberish.

Can I pass a complex data object back through the API? Do I have to pass back just a formatted string? Do I have to process the interpolated variables myself or is that already part of the API? All this working in a language I had never bothered to look at before. PHP. HAH, Piece of Half-baked Puke. Give me PERL or C and I am a happy camper, PHP is for sissies wanting a quick fix and who can’t think of answers on their own using a set of elegant and powerful tools like in PERL or C. No, PHP, home of the thousands of functions and modules, you never know which to use. HA… What a joke.

But I learn it because that is what the rest of the world is working with. And when it all comes down to it, it is all just logic and structure anyway.

I did learn one thing however, Object Oriented Programming (OOPs) is no longer a mystery to this procedural (linear) programmer. OOPs is just like procedural programming, just in smaller chunks.

In this world it seems that plugin programmers are at a premium. Amazing if you ask me, this is really easy work. I am used to large system programming, now that I got this new API down for the system I working on, I can program anything and make it do anything. I am the Answer man now. I have been empowered. I know it all and I know nothing.

Hey AdultFriendFinder, you need a programmer how knows it all? Knows systems, knows server architecture, know load balancing, knows software development, know interface development, know internet architecture, know load sharing, know security analysis, knows everything there is to know? And if I do not know it I can find out and fix it and make it work. You need an answer man?

Well, here I am, HarshawJ; simple answers for complex problems.

Logic and structure...isn't that what we all need? Help me, Answer Man...I need to know the answers. Complex problems surround me and I try to stay outside of it all.....
