Bar Quote II

Continuing in what hopefully will be a string of these, here is another quote overheard in the bar I do most of my writing.

To set the scene, there is a jazz band playing and people dancing. There is an obviously depressed man sitting by himself (about 35 I would guess) and a young woman who is apparently trying to get him to cheer up and dance. He responds:

"My dear, my shoes are now too tight and I have forgotten how to dance."

Isn't it interesting the profound thoughts that can be overheard at a bar? Now to be honest, I may have misheard this one, the music was rather loud, and indeed I may have heard it somewhere else and just transferred it. In any case, it is an interesting quote.

I would have said "take off your shoes then!"
