National Nurse's Week

For those who don't know yes there really is such a thing. A whole week dedicated to all those wonderful people who help all your aches and pains. A couple years back I decided with the help of a friend (have to help place the blame) to take full advantage of this. I was at work and decided to place a call to my devoted husband. I asked him if he knew what the day was. He responded hesitantly by answering whatever the day of the week was. He wasn't the greatest at remembering birthdays, anniversaries, etc. In fairness neither of us were. After going through a rather tough spot in our marriage, I decided I couldn't let this one pass by. He was doing so well at sending flowers to work. I proceeded to tell him it was in fact national nurse's week, and that to add to it (sounding somewhat hurt of course) proceeded to add that my friend's husband had sent flowers to work for her. Low and behold when I arrived home from work that day, I myself had a present waiting for me. So for all that read this, and might possibly thinking "that is just wrong". I will add that the gift ended up being wrapped into a Mother's Day gift, and a birthday gift as well. Both will follow National Nurse's Week shortly. So he actually made out in the deal - 3 gifts for the price of one. I will also add that since that happened I have never received another gift for National Nurse's Week. But every year I try, and it always manages to bring a smile for the effort put forth. So if you know a nurse put forth a little effort and let them know they're appreciated. After all it is National Nurse's Week. (I forgot to add that my friend's hubby never did get her anything, women can be so devious.)

Nursing is one of the most underappreciated professions. It is also filled with the sexiest women.

I did't know about it until I saw the card display next to the Mother's Day cards. So happy belated Nurse's Day and hope you had a great week.
