When will I listen to women?

I'm slowly learning that maybe women know what they are talking about some times. Women have always gotten on my case about my lack of stylish sense. I've always broken the all the cardinal rules of fashion. I used to wear white socks with dress shows, black shoes with brown belt, etc. Some gals in the bar a few months back got on my case ruthlessly about it. I think it has kinda been a Green Eggs and Ham thing. I thought why should I change myself and risk not being comfortable. Well I finally started making some fashion changes, I started wearing slacks and dress shirts to the karaoke bar, bought black socks and a black belt, shave on regular basis (still wear a trimmed goatee though), wear after shave. But the one that really has pushed me over the edge is my glasses. The glasses I have in my profile picture are about 15 years old. The other day a girl at work (23 and pretty) was going to clean her glasses so I asked her to go ahead and clean mine too. She and several others are always complaining about how dirty my lenses get. I work as a machinist where we machine foam, dust gets everywhere, so my glasses are always dirty. I used to work at a newspaper plant and had the same situation with paper dust. This girl came back from cleaning my glasses and started harping on me about them. How they were scratched and way out of style. Of course the other gal I work with also had to start complaining, and since the exam and part of the frames/lenses were covered by insurance and it had been 15 years I figured I'd go ahead and make them happy. Boy am I glad I did. These new style glasses are awesome. I never would've thought that I would be so excited about something so little as a new pair of glasses. I just got them yesterday and can't wait to get back to work tuesday to show them off. My old glasses were the aviator syle, huge. These ones are smaller and actually fit the shape of my eyes better. They are half-frames where the bottom of the lense has no frame. I feel so much better about myself now. Why is it that presenting yourself can bring out such confidence?

You know I had always felt uncomfortable dressing up in the past, but for some reason I am at that stage in my life. Choosing form over fashion has always been difficult for me. I've always chosen function over the past, but it was time for me to change my life.
