I remember as a teen racing motocross and one of my racing buddies has a bumper sticker that reas "Put somehting exciting between your legs" with a picture of a dirt bike next to it.
It has been nearly two decades since I last raced minus a few times I have been on a bike joy-riding. So...this weekend I put something exciting back between my legs....and bought a dirt bike.
This afternoon I went back to my roots and rode as far into the Nevada desert as I dared and put some long needed life back into my soul. After I got back home and woke from my nap, I wondered why I let it go for so long. It made me come alive back then and did so today. I may not have the skills I used to, but that doesn't matter. It was me, the bike, and the Nevada wilderness today. In truth, there is no deep philisophical reason for the dry period, except maybe a sense that what I did as kid should stay something I did as a kid. But after today....screw that. I feel alive. And I have the sore muscles to prove it!
So..what is it you let go of and why? Can you get it back? If so...why haven't you?
