Death knocks

And I rush to let him in.

I open wide the door

And he greets me with a grin.

I offer him my all

And he takes with little thought

He even takes my heart

Which I never thought to stop.

Tearing up my heart

His evil laughter ringing out,

He tears at my emotions

And then he rips me inside out.

Finishing at last

He pats me gently on the head.

“You’re heartless, just like me.”

And my heart– yes it's now dead.
