What the GOB did During her time away from AFF....PART1

Listening to the music wasn't helping. Puffing down three cigarettes one after another wasn't helping either. The Rum-Ice Tea she drank wasn't helping either. Now, being a woman of strength, Mandy often took on her fears and faced them head on. Today, at this early hour of 5am, she was about to walk through security, make her way to the gate and board a plane for the first time. She had dealt with loosing a nail and having it sewed back onto her finger, having two c-sections, roller coasters, jumping off a lovely cliff into the Ohio River and even standing on a railroad track as the train was approaching. Why in the world would she be afraid of a little airplane?
She turned, kissed her husband's soft thin lips and whispered a few more "I love you"’s into his ear. He smiled warmly, all to familiar with her fear. For he too felt the same way when he first had to step foot on an airplane.
They both had been told that he couldn't go any farther than security with her, which only ticketed passengers could go on. So, they said their last goodbye, and he walked away. He knew if he didn't, she would have never gone on through. She tried to swallow the lump in her throat. She would have done anything to just smoke right then and there. But, the excitement and fear took hold and override the craving for nicotine. After moving through security with ease, she moved on to the escalator. She remembered a movie in which a spirit was riding an escalator to get to heaven. OH GREAT, NOW I'M ASSUMING I'M GONNA DIE...GEEZE. 5 AM AND ALL I'M DOING IS DRIVING MYSELF NUTS. she thought. She remembered to the day before when she lost her cross. She had been unpacking the trunk of her son's birthday presents, when she looked down and realized that the two hundred-dollar crucifix was missing. Under closer inspection, she had lost it, but not because the chain was broke, but evidently it the clasp had undone itself. She searched like crazy and felt underneath the bra. She smiled to herself as her husband eagerly grabbed her breasts and felt to see if the charm was in the bra. It wasn't, at least, not that they could feel anyway. She assumed it was a bad omen to loose a cross...and even worse if it wasn't because a chain had broke, but had somehow came undone.
NO matter, whatever the cause, the charm wasn't found until that morning when she awoke. she went to remove her bra, and there under her left tit was the charm. She pulled it away from her skin and saw the imprint.

So much for a bad omen , she thought to herself. When she got to the gate, she saw the other passengers start to board the plane. As she walked towards the door, she closed her eyes, took a breath...and let her auto pilot system get her through the part where she needed to get ON the plane and take her seat.

Welcome home! Glad you're back safe and sound.
So did the flight attendants teach you how to use a seat belt? lol.
So now the "cross of the left tit" shall forever be the lucky traveling cross. I will say a prayer to the cross of the left tit when I fly away in April.
Waiting to hear Part 2, 3 ...
Hope it was a great time.

Sounds like it may have been a good omen . Looking forward to the rest of your story. Glad to have you back .. missed you!!!!

I stood in front of a train once .. bound and determined to end my life. Not sure what pulled me away at the last minute, maybe a Guardian Angle, not sure .... I swear I felt the train brush my feet just as I jumped into the ditch. In hindsight, I was lucky the fog wasn't any thicker or else I would not have had time to jump after seeing the train and realizing what I was doing.

wow ... what a memory to get back ....

Glad to be alive and reading all about your weekend.

Heh, the first one is always the hardest, but we spent our time joking about the silly things the airlines do when we took off each time

My grandfather was a pilot, you know what he always said once he had safely landed his plane and taxied it into the hanger? He said "I've cheated death once again. Now I have to risk my life driving the expressway home." Meaning there is a better chance of being killed while driving then there could ever be while flying!

Heh. You know, when I have to fly, I'm outside smoking until the last possible minute. I check my luggage, get my boarding pass and head back outside. I'm always one of the very last on the plane.

Hon, I've flown a lot. Here's the secret. Get drunk. A couple of doubles will do it.

Turbulence in the air is really just a customer service problem.

Turbulence on the road is really just a public works problem.

Turbulence in the bedroom is really just a counseling problem.

Turbulence with your in-laws is really just a patience problem.

Now if you plan on Crashing ... Crash into me .. =)

I'm on the edge of my seat wondering what happened next! You've made it back and so you've flown twice .... that's a real achievement for someone who has a fear of flying.

Jeez I get the adrenaline heeby-jeebies every time I go paragliding and you went thousands of feet higher than I ever get!

And you know I just can't wait for Part 2....

Do tell!

warm xx
