Jealousy

Jealousy....It is a word that describes a feeling that is known in ALL parts of the world. But...Why is it so known?
What is it about this emotion? Why do certain things in life cause this reaction in us? Why does this emotion bring out the worst in us?
I know you have heard of women and men killing their significant other over a jealous streak...and I also know people who stab others in the back simple because they had something someone wanted...or needed.

I have felt jealousy....many times unfortunately...and although I really haven't felt it lately...I know that there are others feeling it. When you have a jealous thought...do you realize that you are jealous? Or do you just deny that emotion and pass it off as being pissed at someone for their personality?
How many types of jealous scenarios can there be? Is there a such thing as being jealous of the coworkers lunch? For example....He has brought a steak and your stuck with that tuna salad sandwich from the vending machine. Would that cause jealousy?
Where did it come from is it a learned emotion..or is it something that is with us all since birth...and WHY?

In the past there was a lot of jealousy here where I work. Some individuals were so used to being the top dogs that the arrival of others with comparable skills and experience was considered a threat. Over time, most of them moved on, but a couple of them still remain. We're a much better team in spite of them.

Let me drive. I like the view

Cleavis--- It seems to happen at work and every where else. I am glad things are going good at your work even though you have some of those people who constantly stay jealous.

It is termed a VICE for a reason. I think we have a tendency to think that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence no matter what we have of our own. Must be in our DNA or something.

It must be Keith. I often wonder though...where is that line drawn between Envy and Jealousy..and between those and CRAZY??

i think jealous stems from the fear of the possibility that you will lack something ... jealousy in love suggests to me that the jealous one feels they are lacking or could lose love, usually because of a past experience of lacking love.

however, having recently observed my toddler telling me i'm not allowed to kiss or hug my husband and acting as tho it is only her perogative, it seems to be a "natural" feeling. we did, however, overcome her jealous behaviour after 3 days by reassuring her that there is enough love to go around!

Very well said Freelove. I am in total agreeance with you. My 3 yr old son is the same way. If I start to kiss my hubby goodbye for work...my son steps in as though I am not allowed to kiss daddy....it is funny how they do that....isn't it?
