Why Weekends

Aren't weekends supposed to be relaxing? Or am I just dreaming? I have yet to have one free weekend this entire year - likely not for many years.

Of course, Friday I worked until almost 8 p.m. after starting the day at 5 a.m. Then I had to run home and walk the dogs before I could even think of doing anything else. After the pups passed out, I then grabbed a quick shower and got ready to head out the door. But of course the phone had to ring while I was getting ready -not once, but three times. All from my friends I was getting ready to go meet.

Finally at 10 p.m. I head out the door. Luckily my friends were already at the bar and had ordered a drink for me. Drinks and conversation lasted until 2 a.m.

Saturday began bright and early at 6 a.m. when the dogs need to go out. I know, I could have ignored them. But then I would have had to clean up a mess. So it's better to get up. Spent all day storing my winter clothes and getting my spring clothes out of storage. Think my washer and dryer hit overload - did at least 8 loads of laundry. Yes, an exciting Saturday.

Saturday evening was spent grilling outdoors (rib eye and shrimp), so that was relaxing. But the evening held nothing good - had to do my taxes. No procrastination time left. Luckily that didn't take long. Then I had to head out because I had volunteered to help with the local orchestra. They were having a fundraiser and I made the mistake of telling them I was a killer on the black jack table. So I spent 5 hours dealing cards for their casino fundraiser. Yes, very worthwhile effort, but a large part of me wanted to be home, being lazy on the couch, reading a book and listening to the dogs snore.... Oh well....

Sunday was spent at work - yes, it sounds like I am a workaholic. But I am currently a one-person office until my supervisor hires an assistant. And since deadlines don't wait (I'm a grant writer), Sundays at the office have been a staple for about 4 months now.

So yes, I had a weekend. No, the weekend's schedule was not determined by me. I sooo need a break!!
