The past revisited

Was trying to unpack today and organize some of my life and came across two things that must have made an impact on me at the time. I wrote this for a friend who's parent died, the other was something I read copied and kept, not sure why now but is something to think about as we live each day.
This is from Nov. 1987

A Time to Rest
Time has come for me to rest, my work here is done and my rest well earned. I must admit it will be hard to leave so many behind who do not understand.
A part of me must depart from your presence, but that which am lives on in each of you, is part of that which was my work here. In the memory, nothing departs completely there is always a esparto rekindle the flames of love we all feel at being together.
I am here with you now as I have been and shall be. Call upon me as you used to and my embrace halcyon you. If my simple wisdom is needed, ask and shall agnail speak softly in your ear, talk to me and I am there to listen.
It is my tine now to rest but I will not be far if I am needed. In this I am with you always as you are all a part of me, forever warm and loving, my family and friends.

This has no date but had a message.

If you are unhappy

Once upon a time there was a non-conforming sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter. However, soon the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly started to fly south. In a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to the earth in a barnyard almost frozen. A cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow. The sparrow thought this was the end, but the manure warmed him and defrosted his wings. warm and happy, able to breath, he started to sing. Just then a large cat came by and hearing the chirping investigated the sound. The cat cleaned away the manure, found the chirping bird and promptly ate the little bird.
This story contains three morals:
1) everyone who shits on you is not your enemy.
2) everyone who gets you out of the shit isn't necessarily your friend.
3) And, if you are warm and happy in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut!

For those who have followed this blog should know how I view life, there are days you are the windshield and ether are days you are the bug. Tim Magraw's new song says it all " Live each day like you were dying". and a good day to all.
