No guns, No knives, No fights, No Wives

This was the slogan, for the poker club some friends and I started a long time ago. We had the vision of creating a poker club where men and women could go and have a night of fun with a good meal a few drinks and some poker and raffles. Simple in its concept and in the begining quite easy to manage. Rent a hall or bar for an evening, get price of the meal and booze up front and make sure that everyone has a good time.
We started with 80 guys, all die-hard poker players and the first party was a hit. Everyone wanted to know when we would be doing it again. Well our leader, jovial irishmen elcted leader because this was his idea, jumps right up and says, " we'll do this every three months." Great we all thought, then it hit us oh shit we only have three month to plan our next party and this one took four to get off the ground.
Fearless leader jumps in and says not to worry the club we just used would be more than happy to host us again and the food and booze were no problem. All we would have to do is get the names of those attending and collect the money for the food and booze. Then the problem, we had in six weeks double the number of people from the first one and three of us would have to be in charge of the food, two on raffles and cleanup and the rest on crowd control.
To make a long story short by the second year we were hosting in dance halls because we were having 900 to 1000 people signing up for these parties. We disbanded the parties shortly after that one big one as we were starting to draw to much attention from the local constabulary.
My thoughts today are of happier times with good friends, the kind of friends I hope to make here, even if I am an old fart now I still remember how to make friends.

5', Never was that much of a gambler, except with my life, money was always hard earned so tended not to waste more than I could afford to lose. Always had a dream to play in the champioinship of poker, when I'm hot it's paday, when I'm not I'm broke.
