Get Back In Line!

Today, I stood in line at the local Post Office for almost 30 minutes folks!! Is that even legal? Sometimes, I truly hate my lazy ass boss! By the time I got to the yellow "wait your turn" line, my Blackberry breathed a *sigh* of relief and promptly died from over emailization.

For a nation with a reputation for rushing, rushing, rushing, we spend huge amounts of time standing around in lines, just waiting. It would be alright if we were Spanish peasants and could strum guitars and hum, while we were standing in line, or East Indians who could just sit cross-legged and simply stare into space for hours until hearing the ominous "NEXT". Nobody expects anything more out of Spanish peasants with guitars or East Indians because they have been smart enough to build themselves a reputation for STANDING & SITTING AROUND!

But nooooo! We here in the land of the free, with our sterling reputation for speeding and dashing around, are known far and wide as the fastest, most productive nation in the world. So, when 50 of us get in line and stand for an hour, shifting from foot to foot until our turn comes at the teeny tiny window, we know it is a Government conspiracy like all annoying things are the fault of the Government.

We would have plenty of time to rush around like we are supposed to do if the Government did not require 50 of us to stand in one line, all at once, waiting for two civil service employees to weigh our letters and perform other certified shenanigans. Oh sure, there are times we stand in line to see a game or a concert, but damn-it that is OUR affair and in time we develop enough sense to watch them on TV anyway!

The U.S. Post Office is one of the most popular line-standing fields in the country! I even looked up the stats. It is estimated that six-tenths of the U.S. population spend 10-20 hours per year standing in line at the U.S. POST OFFICE. Does no one on Capitol Hill realize that no laws have been passed granting us eating, sleeping nor intellectual advancement oportunities while we are WORKING at standing in line for 10-20 hours per year? We have no 15 minute paid breaks. Where are the benefits and retirement packages for our commitment and years of dedication?

Stay tuned for more P.O. Experience's of this courageous Geisha.

My sweet Knight gets it! I am in Administration and have spent the last four years of my life in line after line. I have decided to picket the PO and I will hold out indefinitely. Time and place TBA.

Love and kisses to you and ALL our men overseas!!
