sad and desperate?

I was browsing some profiles the other day and noticed one woman’s comments about potential contacts being patient because she was getting 120 messages a day. Now I don’t know if that’s a lot more than the usual, but it made me think of two things. One was that it felt quite depressing to think that the messages I might be sending off myself might be similarly just one of hundreds and that as such would surely be destined to disappear into the virtual ether. It also made me think of how sad it makes us men look, all swarming around these women with what might be interpreted as desperate pleas for contact. And I just want to say that, y’know, I’m really not sad and desperate.

On another note, I did actually receive a message this week. Sadly, it came from some woman in California who proceeded to call me ‘pathetic’ for not wanting to settle down and start a family. Now, each to their own and all that, but if someone chooses to make life choices that are different to the ones you might believe in, and if it’s not causing you personal harm, then can’t you just, like, let them get on with it? I mean, is that such a radical idea? Or do I just sound like a hippy?
