In Today's Environment Is The Good Life Really the Good Life?

I wonder if are commitment to having more financially outweighs the wear on ourselves from having to work so hard to make the financial indepence. You have a great job you put tons of hours to make the great salary, but you find youself spending most of it to maintain the lifestyle that you think you wanted. You barely have a chance to read a whole book, take a long walk, contemplate, write, but you drive a BMW and have a great house. Is it hard to sort out which is better, if you really can have them. I mean it is wicked cool to hug the curves of a highway at high speeds in luxury for the commute, but what about sitting and reading some philosophy from the library. I have to admit that wondering about Socrates or Des Cartes ( I hope I spelled this right) for me really is only rewarding if I can share it with others. Boy I love sharing mutually stimulating conversations that go to the core of our beings, that hit the mark of what we feel is right and good and should prevail in this world.
