"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something and you don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of my God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely? But He gives us MORE grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.' Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded... Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up." - James 4:1-8,10

There is a worship song that many of us have been singing at church that carries a strong anointing; the words seem to deeply touch the hearts of those present. The words are as follows:

'Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see you, I want to see you...To see you high and lifted up, shining in the light of your glory, pour out Your power and love, as we sing...Holy, Holy, Holy,...Holy, Holy, Holy...I want to see You!'

So often we are so caught up in our "Battles", our "Quarrels", and our "Strivings" that it becomes a dark cloud that over-shadows the very presence of God in our lives. We say, "Lord I want to see You" ... and we think God is just being silent, yet we don't recognize that we have become entangled by our own selfishness and sin and have thus shoved God right on out of the picture!

God will not settle for second best, He will not settle for a heart that is divided between the ways of the world and Him. We cannot wear garments of shame and glory at the same time! We must choose. There is one thing that we must learn….submission to God is not a position of "weakness", but one of great strength!!!

Being submitted to God requires a key ingredient on our parts..."humility". And this means laying aside our agendas, our desires, our selfish ways, our fleshly desires and how we think things ought to be done. We have to come to the point where we can see that the world does not revolve around us, but ONLY around HIM! We have to come into His presence ready to not only listen, but also truly hear, and then act in obedience.

As the above verse states; when we submit, the devil has to flee! All the wiles and temptations of satan that seem so formidable disappear like a puff of smoke in the presence of a Holy God. When we will open our hearts, and submit ourselves fully to Him... then we will begin to see Him and hear His voice clearly... Lift up your heads O Ye gates that the King of Glory may come in! Open the eyes of our hearts Lord! We want to see You!
