God, I Wish They Would Bring Back....

Warning: I hate to do another list so soon but 1) The signs all pointed to posting today and 2) I love lists. So if you are sick of them, sit back and wait for my next post…I promise it won’t be a list.

Today I was perusing other blogs and decided to drop in on a fan of mine VoodooGuru, who always has rather off-beat but entertaining posts. Recently, I read is latest, Another Rock Cliche. I couldn’t think of anyone but the obvious Kurt Cobain (yes I know about Tupac and Notorious BIG, but the former might as well still be alive and the latter had only one song that I really liked anyway). Anyway, I listed Michael Jackson. Yes, I know he isn’t dead but his music from the 80s, which was undeniably the best, is.

Today I was reading another non-AdultFriendFinder blog and the woman mentioned how she misses Jello Pudding Pops. Hot damn, so do I! That got me nostalgic for all the other things I wish they would bring back as well, some of them well before my time...but still. Here are a few:

Jello Pudding Pops
Pinky and the Brain
Roller Skating
MST3K (anyone who's a fan knows what this is)
Bubble Gum Cigarettes (the kind that blew a fine dust when you "smoked" them)
Charm Necklaces (the cheap plastic kind you had to hook on a chain)
Bakersfield PD (nobody knows this one but it was hilarious)
Get a Life (another TV show you probably don't remember)
Pinwheel (a children's show on Nickelodeon)
Tight, Non-flared jeans for women
Saturday Night Live when Eddie Murphy was on
Jolt Soda
Sex before the AIDS virus
Tight jeans for men
Bubblegum Ice Cream
Mad Libs
Hair beads
Glitter Bracelets (the tube kind with water and glitter inside)
Face Glitter
The Gong Show
Regular Saturday Morning Cartoons
Regular Weekday Afternoon Cartoons
A Democrat in the White House
Fake Tattoos
The Sticker Craze
Decent Haircuts on Young Men (I hate this new poofy spiky look)
Skin Tight Leggings (without flares!)
Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall (impossible I know, but I can dream)

Some of these things may very well still exist...but hell if I can find them anywhere. If you know of their secret hide out, please let me know!

Things to be Happy About
Comparing the Movie to the Book
Laffy Taffy
Cheap Bulk Candy Season (Halloween)
Vintage Fabric

I LOVED Pinky and the Brain! What ever did happen to them? If anybody says they've seen it lately let me know.

I love lists. Hell, it's the only reason I watch VH1 anymore. I just hope you don't get annoyed at me copy/pasting and commenting on them.

Jello Pudding Pops - They still sell these up on my end, and now I'm getting nostalgic
Pinky and the Brain - You can download some shorts from Kazaa and the like. Also, if it's not on DVD, get The Critic, which features Maurice LaMarche, who does Brain's voice (actually his Orson Welles impression)
Roller Skating - I always sucked at this. More fat lips than I care to remember
MST3K (anyone who's a fan knows what this is) - They have a few collections on DVD. When I first got Sci-Fi Channel, I watched it every day. "Let's have a Patrick Swayze Christmas"
Bubble Gum Cigarettes (the kind that blew a fine dust when you "smoked" them) - JOE BLOWS! YES!
Charm Necklaces (the cheap plastic kind you had to hook on a chain) - they were fun
Bakersfield PD (nobody knows this one but it was hilarious) - I do know it, and I loved it. They occasionally show the reruns on TVLand
Get a Life (another TV show you probably don't remember) - I vaguely remember it. Didn't watch it much.
Pinwheel (a children's show on Nickelodeon) - All I remember of this was the mime. That mime creeped the fuck out of me.
Tight, Non-flared jeans for women - They did look good
Saturday Night Live when Eddie Murphy was on - Well, there's Chappelle's Show with Charlie Murphy. That's about as good as you're gonna get
Jolt Soda - Still on the market. They even sell it in 1.5 litre thermos mugs
Sex before the AIDS virus - And the outdoor public orgies that went with it. Why was I born in the 80s?
Tight jeans for men - Hard as hell to hide a hard-on
Bubblegum Ice Cream - yummy
Bangs - depends on the hairstyle. I've seen people with JUST bangs.
Mad Libs - They're so (contemplative) they make me wanna (lactate) in my (dog bowl)
Hair beads - never really saw that trend
Glitter Bracelets (the tube kind with water and glitter inside) - My sister still has a collection of those
Disco - except Donna Summer
Sideburns - Still got mine, just not that thick, like mutton chops
Face Glitter - Still got 'em on strippers
The Gong Show - One facet of pop culture I'm glad I missed. The clips on blooper shows are enough for me
Regular Saturday Morning Cartoons - You mean there are people who DON'T like Pokemon and Power Rangers?
Regular Weekday Afternoon Cartoons - I miss Tiny Toons
A Democrat in the White House - God willing, Joe Biden in '08
Fake Tatoos - I still get those from time to time
The Sticker Craze - great until you had to scrape them out of your locker at the end of the school year
Decent Haircuts on Young Men (I hate this new poofy spiky look) - I've kept the same haircut for 10 years, just short all around, lying flat
Skin Tight Leggings (without flares!) - I'd love to see you in those
Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall (impossible I know, but I can dream) - How about any minority judge with his integrity (cause Clarence Thomas sure ain't it)

Things I miss:
Herman's Head
Dorm food
Laser Tag
Bill Cosby
Philly Cheese Steaks (no one up here comes close)
Hockey (but thankfully, that'll be back next month)
Boo Berry cereal
Christmas Specials worth watching
Monty Python
Tom Hanks comedies

I remember Bakersfield PD and Get a Life, both on Fox I think. And I'll admit to these 2 shows, Parker Lewis Can't Lose (one of the few times I saw a bassoon on TV and I played bassoon) and House of Buggin'. There, I confessed to it, so deal with it. And I was thinking about your "hand" blog again. Its funny what people think is more attractive. There are some guys I know that would think you're the best thing ever (physically) and some that wouldn't be one bit attracted, those guys looking for the skinny, petite almost childlike body. I belong to the first group, but still, you ever think that those GQ, Playgirl model guys that hit on you think you would be the more attractive between you? Or were their emails so vain and concieted that you could tell they thought their poop didn't stink?

B: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
P: I think so, Brain, but me and Pippi Longstocking... I mean, what would the children look like?

I miss those guys. Also miss 'Invader ZIM', 'Greg the Bunny', and 'Firefly' (at least Firefly is getting a movie). Other things I miss: slow dancing, cheap gas, my IROC-Z, and playing games on a board. As for tight jeans, I've always worn Levi's 501s and probably always will.

Ok I woke up this morning and had a good laugh over your responses guys. Thanks for making my Sunday.
Screw696969: I Think we should start a petition and get everyone on AdultFriendFinder to sign it and send it to WB...Of course we might have to leave out the part that they were all AdultFriendFinder members.

Herman's Head: Remember it and thought it was OK
Sex: Remember it and can find it in my bedroom anytime
College: Miss it more than anything
Dorm food: Mine was actually quite good...I like being told what I am going to eat instead of having to decide
Laser Tag: Never played it but it sounded like fun
Battlebots: Vaguely remember it
Bill Cosby: And of course Thursday Night's Cosby Show (Is it odd that I was only in elementary school and still remember what night it came on)
Philly Cheese Steaks (no one up here comes close): tThe only time American Cheese will even get close to my mouth. HAd one for the first time when my Philly native friend made them and I loved them. We have a couple of decent places here but I am not a native so can't say for sure...
Hockey (but thankfully, that'll be back next month): Never got into it, but would love to see a good fight
Boo Berry cereal: Yes...fruity sugary cereals always have my vote...Though Fruity Pebbles will always be my favorite
Christmas Specials worth watching: I still love those Christmas Story marathons.
Monty Python: OK you are going to hate me but I never got too much into these...Interesting note: John Cleese spoke at my College Graduation. He was hilarious!
Tom Hanks comedies: I like him both ways, but I do miss his old stuff as well

hotiowastud2: Some stuff never looses it's appeal, no matter what age...look at how bell-bottoms (or the like) came back in fashion (shuddder!).

smegma00: I vaguely remember yours but not to the point of being nostalgic. About Hand, it was more about me than them with regard to hot men. Most of the messages were quite friendly, and I am sorry to them if I made it seem like they were all jerks. I just have to have a certain comfort level with the person I am with...I don't have enough of it with super hot guys.

RailBaron2: Yours are a bit over the top...but getting there

Balanon2: 'Invader ZIM', 'Greg the Bunny', and 'Firefly': I'm with you on the last two
slow dancing: It's the easiest kind to do when you can't dance...so I love it as well
cheap gas: Who doesn't! My next car is a hybrid
my IROC-ZK, I had to look this one up...should have known it would be a car. lol
playing games on a board: I LOVE board games, Sorry, Monopoly, Candyland, etc...

Well, I certainly appreciate the plug sweetheart, but OFF-BEAT and ENTERTAINING?!?

Who's the one writing about things like petrol-economics and sexual politics, and who's the one writing about Chuck Barris & Chris Elliott TV shows, baby-pop?

I'm the friggin' P.J. O'Rourke of Blogville!!!

And YOOOUUU are either jealous of my Oscar Wilde-like wit...

Or you're pissed that my beloved Bills spanked your Texans yesterday!
