College Wear

Foreword: Since I am out of commission w/ regards to writing I am posting some stuff I had on another blog for now. Don't worry, it's still good.

I was walking across campus and I saw a girl walking by who apparently refuses to acknowledge that it is no longer summer. She was wearing on of those mini ruffled skirts, flip-flops and a cami (underneath a flimsy jacket). Just as I reached the building where I work I saw a (white!) guy with platinum blond dreadlocks and a T-shirt that advocated the legalization of pot. Ahhh.....the things you can get away with in college.

Over the course of the past week I have seen:

A guy with a t-shirt that said "I traded my girlfriend for video games"

A brunette with orange and blue highlights.

A kid with a t-shirt that explained the various religions as they applied to "shit"

A girl wearing her pajamas

A girl with fuzzy pink pom-poms in her hair

A boy with extra thick eye-liner on

A boy with a cape on

A girl with the Astros logo painted on her cheek

A girl in short shorts that had JUICY written on the back

A guy with orange Converse shoes on (presumably in honor of his alma mater)

As well as More Flip-flops and baseball caps than I care to count

That world, where I can show up to school in my PJs and express my politics freely across my chest on a daily basis, is behind me now. I am forever trapped in the world of sensible shoes and "appropriately-cut" collars. When I was in college my dad was fond of telling me (in a nostalgic sort of way) that I "would never have so much freedom and so few responsibilities." Only now am I realizing how right he was....Sigh!

Things to be Happy About:

Silly Mascots
Oral Sex
Drawer Pulls
Tutu Skirts
Colorful Beads

Yes, it is good, but... Maybe you could call me and dictate the blogs for me. I would be so happy to do so. Or better, I could move to Houston and be your blog secretary for as long as you would need me.

(This is more personal, but I have to say it. You are the best in this place. But your popularity makes you not repond to my 10 messages (ugh!) The secretarial position would make up for anything)

Yours, Ewan.

ewan_1973: I have to confess, I have not been keeping up with my messages. There are just too many to go through right now and it wears me out just looking at the number (350 unread!) Sorry. I will try to make it to your blog once a day though.

agoigo: Unfortunately I have about 40 more years to wait...sigh!

Frogger, I am now enrolled at UNT in denton and hardly a day goes by when Pajamas are not seen on campus. From pajamas to classic business suits, stiletto heels struggling to traverse the sloped sidewalks, to the flippity flappety of comfy flaps, the weather changing has barely altered their clothing choices!

Guess the boxers have given way to the cami !!

One phenomena of attire that I was stunned seeing, was the girls wearing guys boxers and -tshirts when on campus/around town, back in the early 90's, still get a kick out of the memory. In Lubbock at the time another college town, it was not unusual to see the boxers strolling the mall, grocery stores and a few restaurants.

Hope your lefty is starting to feel better, and healing quickly!!

The best T-shirt message I saw this year was the Anger Management concert:

Save a Mouse
Eat a Pussy

frogger,
I live on the campus of Union College in Upstate New York, and I see everything you see on a daily basis. I so miss those days when you could say and do whatever you wanted without getting into hot water. Love the picture of you in the wet T-shirt, Got anymore?

Ah yes... college fashion.

I still lament the fact that I can no longer have blue hair, though I do wear my pink Chuck Taylors in spring & summer, and I still wear DMs when I'm not in my Chucks, even to the office. I've even got a pair of patent leather DMs to wear with my tuxedo.

Was never much into slogan T-shirts, but I did wear one that said, "Frankie Says Use Condoms." This was the late 80s, and "Frankie Says..." may be a bit before your time Frogger.

On a somewhat related note, I was at my alma mater over the weekend to attend an alumni function, as well as to attend to some... uhhh... "personal business." Stopped at a quickie mart, and what was in the cooler but... Jolt!

Yep, Jolt Cola, along with three other flavors I'm not the least bit interested in. Big ass 23.5 oz. cans with brushed aluminium screw tops. I'm drinking one now.

Check out my most recent post about Jolt to learn more.
