Where the Heart is

As I walked out the door
Into the fading suns light
I immediately sensed the vast open
And I allowed the world in

I could smell the flowers
That I had planted
The ones that would not grow
Ah, but look at them now

The aroma of the farm
across the road from me
Allowed its pungent stench to waft
But an aroma I welcomed in happily

The hum of a tractors motor
enters my brain with subtlety
I see the vehicle whipping together
Neatly rolled bales of hay

The newly cut grass
with the the stench of the farm
Allowed me a sense of comfort
A sense of being sent back in time

Stretching out my arms
And breathing in deeply
I take in the air, the light and aroma
Of what reminded me of home

It is was wonderful then and is wonderful
