Tales of a "broken heart"...literally

This past weekend was one that I think I will remember for awhile. When I wrote in my blog asking about "Epiphanous" moments ..this is why I did so...(it is a long story so settle in)

Monday Feb. 6th: Started experiencing sharp pain in the left chest area.....no biggie, must have ate something that was not coinciding with me

Tuesday-Thursday: Experiencing the same pain but now more constant and sharper

Friday Feb. 10th: Finally get out of the house to go shopping. Standing in the "lingerie" section get a sudden pain ten times the pain I have been experiencing. Went to grab something to eat and felt light headed and breathless

Hubby rushes me to the ER and no waiting for me. Right back to the back I was escorted. Within minutes I am hooked up to every machine possible and some little, sweet, kid is tyring to get an IV in and take a Vampires motherload of blood! Heart is racing 143 beats per minute, blood pressure is 193/92, head is hurting like an axe has been embedded in it and.......SCARED S***less. The nurse arrives with this pill that was no bigger than a flea fart and said stick it under your tongue....It was Nitro......within minutes I was flush, felt like an anxiety attack was happening and then all of a sudden.......blood pressure is down, heart rate is normal, and I feel ALOT better. Wait for bloodwork results, get an x-ray and return to more chest pain......BAM! Another Nitro.....

12:30 a.m.: Transported to Trier Krankenhaus (hospital) Gets more blood drawn, everything is feeling better and the doc says ( in his broken English) "You stay overnight"....I panicked...not here, in a foreign land , alone....but after some soul searching I did.. crying most of the night.... scared out of my mind..the next morning MORE BLOOD drawn, table is full of pills of all sizes, not taken because no one could tell me what they were...they did not speak English Just German.....Doc says I am ok, I can go and out the door I went.

11:15 a.m.: Still hurting but on my way home.

Monday Feb. 13th: Seen my doctor who informed me my condition is an infection of the chest wall caused by the bronchitis I had a couple weeks ago. The pain was due to inflammation of the chest cavity wall.......Naproxen administered!

Today, Valentine's Day: I am still in a bit of pain but more tolerable....Naproxen is helping quite a bit.....BUT

My Epiphanous moment was thinking I was having a heart attack....my daughters face was vivid in my mind, my grand-baby's little cooing voice rang through my ears, my husbands facial expressions burned into my soul.....NOW was the time...

Since Friday I have smoked less than a pack of cigarettes...(Down from a pack a day), I have restrained from drinking more than 2 Pepsi's a day and you know what?

I heard my grand-daughters laughter for the first time on the phone last night.....I cried at the thought of almost missing that sound ...forever

Everyone take care of your health........Please!

xx FREETIME648 xx

I was scared when I read the begining of this post for you. I am glad that it can be handled and I know that sometimes it makes you realize what you would miss the most. My husband and I have talked about the hospital closes to us, the fact they they 'pretty much' only speak French and have an agreement that if I get hurt and he needs to take me that we would opt for another hospital a bit futher that the personal speaks Dutch.

It's just a shame it takes something like that to make us listen to good sense!

Glad you're okay, anyway x

I can only imagine the anxiety you must have felt after the awful experience you have been through. A similer occurance happened just before last Christmas with my Older Brother, he was in the Library & started having pains in his chest. He managed to walk the short distance to the Doctor's surgery, & afer a qiuck examination he was transfered by ambulance to the main hospital. It turned out to be an anurism, & he was in hospital for several weeks, he was fitted with a stent near his heart & is fine now. We told him to take things easy, as he admitted he had been working too hard during the last 2 months before the attack. So i honestly agree with you when you say everyone should take care of there health.....but do we listen !!!!
