Mothers......Whew, damn they are hard work!

I finally got a hold of my mother today and found out some interesting news. She recently moved from Indiana to Arizona where my sister could look after her. My mother has Emphysema and also is in really bad shape. The docs gave her not very much time left in this world but she is holding on like the trooper I knew she was. But, she has decided that after selling most of her things and spending over $6,000.00 to move ....she is moving back to Indiana. She has to start all new now. New furniture, new doctors, new this, new that... I am in the middle of a move myself and a custody situation with my grand-daughter and NOW I have to worry about my mother. WHEW! I may need a valium for this all...anyone got any spares?

All I want for my mother is for her to be happy for what little time she has left and I know that Indiana will make her happy. But, there is no one there for her. No one that will take the time out of their days to help her. She is slowly losing her memory and her ability to get around on her own is minimal. I have 3 brothers in Indiana but, they are 3 of the most selfish and self centered boys I know. I say boys because that is what they act like 99% of the time. I have no clue what to do now!!!!! And please do not say Assisted Living or Nursing Home....she will NOT do this...I can gaurantee it!

Well she is lucky to have you as her daughter for a start! I hope that she is happy and at peace in Indiana and if she is determined not to go into a home then it must be a worry for you.

Warm hugs Free and very best wishes.

You only get one though dont you?! Exasperating.
Got my mum an apartment ground floor and got the "Oh, Im too old to get up stairs am I?" No mum, bought a first floor one instead, easier that way!! Installed the stair lift she insisted on, 3 months ago. Now it takes up too much room and is noisy. Oh, and why is the seat grey, it doesnt 'go'. My thoughts are with you!

My Mother can be hard work at times, she has osteoperosis and is hard of hearing. She still has all the rest of her faculties, good for her i say. My eldest sister always tells her 'You are 72, not 22 & you have to watch yourself..blah blah..'. My Mother only uses her hearing aid when she watches t.v., so there is usually a lot of SHOUTING going on when i visit, which can be very frustrating, as there is no need of it. She's normally out late at night with my two younger sister's on a Saturday night!!, i don't think she's quite ready for a 'Home' just yet do you?
