I was sitting here doing my usual tricky trottin through AdultFriendFinder and my daughter was sitting right next to me. I had checked for any e-mails, read a few blogs, looked for friends in the EHT when all of a sudden she asked.......

"Mom, are you and dad swingers?"

Flabberghasted, I him-halled the answer, not really sure what to say. Then it dawned on me.....

I am 41 years old, I raised her as my one and only child and she has since made me a grandmother. I sacrificed alot in my life, making mistakes along the way. But, never forgetting her as what made my life go around. I protected her from harm as best I could and I stuck up for her even when she was acting the fool. I would not trade her for the world......so on that note....I told her.....

"Yes, we are swingers.....we are adults who want to explore each others fantasies and make each other happy. It does not mean we do not love each other, it only means we love each other enough to understand the life we have chosen."

Needless to say it all backfired on me.....she resorted to calling me a "Sick person" and even said that I should not be married!

Any suggestions on where to go with this from here???

Good posts, all.
It's your life, not hers. You can't live for her or her expectations.
Give her time and keep the love and communication. Your honesty is refreshing.
Hope it works for whatever is the best.

I'm surprised she waited so long to ask. Good on you for telling her. Now just give it time.

she will come round eventually as she matures as well, its hard for kids to accept their parents lives, especially their sexual life

There are alot of people who steer clear of anyone that they know are swingers, its because they just dont understand. I have a friend who is a swinger, he is in a position(work) that he doesnt dare tell them. He says alot of people would be very angry and look down at that. Why? Is it a threat to them or what? To each their own, I think it is wonderful you and your husband have that close of a relationship. Your daughter will get over it, she may not ever talk to you about it again, but she will get over it. Kids especially just dont even wanna think of their parents doing it together, much less with someone else.........lol.....Dont worry hon, it will be just fine.....

Give her some time to get use to the idea. Remember, most kids don't even want to know their parents are having sex with each other. I think you were correct in telling her the truth especially if she is living with you. Good luck

Full marks for being honest .

most young ppl are very conservative, , born, school, marry, have kids etc. ect. They like and feel secure in the family, and rightly so, and they don't like to think of their parents having sex!:

Depending on the family they are born into, and the environment they are in, most are sexually conservative too, at first, some are even brought up to think sex is naughty, and forbidden. Some have the luck to be brought up in a more open society.

Now the cat is out of the bag , you will now have to answer any questions she has, and she will have many, as honestly as you can.

I have noticed recently lots of new very young members on AdultFriendFinder, getting into swinging, 3somes etc . I'm not sure that, that is such a good thing, as I feel they should at least spend a few years carefully exploring their sexuality first, and not jumping in at the deep end , but thats what young ppl do, and I did it too.
Thank heaven lots of us live in a sexually free society, lots unfortunately don't , and still live in the dark ages, even in the "Free" western world.
