I Remember

I remember long hikes in the morning - watching a spotted fawn as he stumbled with new steps - and counting our paces for fun.

I remember the first time we went to a movie - and tho we were yet but only friends - I remember wanting so badly to put my arm around - never dreaming that someday I actually would.

I remember the first time we kissed - I had never experienced a kiss so soft and sensual before - the first time I touched your breasts - the first time I could smell your soft skin.

I remember the smell of lilacs on a gentle breeze the next morning as I awoke with love in my heart.

I remember the first time we made love - and how we kept all the rest of the campers awake all night. And we just laughed about it - they were probably more jealous than annoyed.

I remember making love on a cliff over looking the sea - and not caring that cars were passing within sight of us - or the time on Castle Craigs and the rock climbers who caught us in the act - how funny it was - and we just giggled about it.

I remember skydiving - how could I forget?

I remember 1,2,3 GO! - our motto - no fear as we would jump or dive off a high cliff into a pond below - or other daring feats that would scare most - and tho we too held fear - it never held us.

I remember slow dancing the living room in the middle of day - just because we could.

I remember haircuts on the back porch.

I remember motorcycle rides - swapping bikes - and thundering down the road without a care.

I remember the time we past the CHP inspection station on I-5 at near 100 mph - oh well

I remember riding side by side as we past trucks and through turns. You learned how to ride quickly and looked so proud on your new bike - a brand new HD Centennial 1450cc softtail - what a magnificent sight you were.

I remember the LONG COLD ride between Walla Walla, WA and Burns, OR. as it rained and snowed. We were frozen - so we would stop every so often to sip scotch and try to warm our gloves on the heat of cylinders. But we did it - no complaints - just life on the road.

I remember backpacking and the COLD water as we rinsed off the days dust in frigid streams.

I remember sharing bowl loads around the campfire - chasing the bear in Yosemite that had stolen our food - and viewing vast expanses of beauty that is only seen by us who hit the trail.

I remember getting caught it the rain of a summer shower - and knowing by the time we returned to camp - everything would be soaked - we loved nature as it worked around us.

I remember drifting to sleep with you in my arms - the hoot of the owl outside - and crickets in the night.

I remember stopping in the middle of a country road - turning off the car - and just sitting quietly as a chorus of frogs serenaded the night.

I remember San Jose - Paul McCartney on Wednesday - the minor accident on the way there and how we pulled together the next day - found a front end at the wrecking yard - then as it drizzled (seems we were always in the rain) we disassembled the damaged front end and put on a new one - just you and I and hand full of tools in the hotel parking lot. Then on Friday - Six Flags during the day and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young that night. We sure had fun.

I remember James Taylor and Eric Clapton and other bands we saw.

I remember time in San Francisco, most of it spent it in bed. But, when we did finally venture out - I remember the cable car, Chinatown at night - walks along the wharf - the Golden Gate bridge - roses at the park and laughter in the air.

I remember flying kites at the beach and finding agates as they glistened at our feet.

I remember your smile and the prettiest eyes I have ever seen - nothing ever bothered you - it was all good.

I remember how I felt when you were near.

I remember you are still the prettiest woman I have ever seen -

I remember - I miss you.

For all the good memories you have voiced here, I hear the sadness...Hugs to you, my friend- hoping you find peace of mind tonight
Enough water has passed beneath the bridge - and when I think of all the good times we had - it is hard to figure what happened. BUT, then I remember the pain - and go - OH YEH - that's right - THE WITCH!! +))
