A Day In The Trees

Out in the trees
with an owl in the night,
campfire flickers -
a beautiful site.

Her eye with a sparkle
across the moonlight,
It makes me wonder -
a feeling so right.

The day that has past
brings a smile to my face.
The mountains and trails,
what a beautiful place.

Come on to comfort,
so say we,
her hand in mine
away on a breeze.

A playful stroll,
just passing the time.
Free as a bird,
love’s not a crime.

The creek babbled on -
beneath our bare feet.
Water so cold,
it chattered our teeth.

Off through the meadow,
naked and tan,
butterfly sores,
away from the lamb.

Sticks in the fire,
she places with ease.
And he slices meat
and carrots that please.

Red glass of wine,
with dinner we know.
A tip to you darling,
a toast I shall throw.

"Those eyes they do sparkle,
your laugh is of life.
To our lives you bring -
strength that is wise.
So to you fair maiden,
with an angels delight -
I toast to you now,
and bid you good night."

But come to my tent,
cuddle warmth I can spare.
Kiss me good night,
and tell me you care.

When dawn breaks out yonder,
another day we will walk.
Another night spent -
in most pleasant of talk.

And you know - campfires keep secrets.
