Who knows? The shadow knows!

I've noticed something lately that has left me confused. I have someone who lurks upon my blog and reads everything I ramble on about. Yet never says a word and never has. Obviously I am of some interest to the person everytime I post something it seems that they show up.

I get visitors all the time that never say anything. I don't mind that though they should know I wont stop anyone from posting on my blog. As long as they don't attack someone other then myself. That really doesn't irk me though as I read a bunch of blogs here and there and only comment if I have something either witty or informative to add. Honestly though I like to hear what everyone thinks good or ill or my rants or sometimes out there thoughts.

I am left wondering who this mystery person is just an interested party someones multi-profile. Who knows really and why do I care even? yet I do and I am asking this person they know who they are if they would like to speak up either in here or in an email if they don't want to point themselves out. If you don't I wont question the issue further.

Does anyone else have lurkers on there blogs? I know some of you have people that you banned that still come to read what you have to say about them. How do you feel about these people do you want them to speak up?

Well...Patrick, I have your blog earmarked as I do alot of others. I would hope that you don't consider me a lurker. I just enjoy your thoughts.

Yes, some posters show up on my blog-o-meter and never say a thing. I consider it a compliment that what ever silly drivel I post is worth them taking the time to read.

Oh...I haven't commented on your recent pic....That is mighty fine!...

Some people may just enjoy what you have to say and find it interesting to read the responses. Why does it require a response? Is it not flattering in the fact that they find your blog interesting and visit it often? I've seen other bloggers bring this same subject up. What difference does it make in the bigger scheme of things?

i haven't noticed lurkers on mine.. there is one guy and we have exchanged messages .. he thinks i'm hot, but is not a blog writer.. other than my good firends, i notice my fan club from the dark, dank, musty evil side.. most of whom are banned so all they can do is lurk..

I read several blogs but post on few of them.
Most times its just enjoyable and often informative reading.

I don't have lurkers on mine.
I have damned few people who go to my blog but thats ok cuz they are all high quality folks.

I have a couple of different lurkers. Some have blogs, some don't. I suppose I myself could be called a lurker. I have one blog that I like to read, but the blog writer has made it clear that they don't want my input, so I refrain from commenting anymore. But I still enjoy reading it.

Hey Flagg, A number of bloggers have brought this up recently. I didn't know that everyone who viewed a blog was expected to say something. Others who responded to this blog and others where this was raised have said basically the same thing. I don't say anything unless I have something to say. I don't like cluttering up people's blogs. I thought that was the polite thing to do. Maybe I should acknowledge what people write in the blogs more often. During the week, I am usually rushed and barely have time to read things let alone doing a lot of replies. I am on the website late at night before I go to bed so I am usually tired and I need to get to bed.

Also, what some people write is so profound or artistic or with feeling, that I feel inadequate to respond or engage in the discussion. I am in awe of what they write and wish I had the depth of feeling and inspiration to write like that. There is a lot of good writing talent on this website - along with the bullshitters. lol

I have to agree with header.. "what some people write is so profound or artistic or with feeling, that I feel inadequate to respond or engage in the discussion. I am in awe of what they write and wish I had the depth of feeling and inspiration to write like that."

I like reading, but if I don't have anything to say, I try and keep my big mouth shut..

Frassy: I hardly consider anyone who has ever posted a lurker and I don't expect everyone to post everytime they read. I don't find what you write to be drivel thats my job.

Thank you very much for the compliment.

LS: Well I'm sorry that it does bother you and I understand sometimes. I wonder if I should write here with all the people that read it. It prevents me from posting some private thoughts. I hardly find that they should have to post regularly just a hello or something. I'd like to know why they are reading is all.

Mari: Your welcome to lurk anytime
As for the fridge its always stocked I just hide it a little keeps the friends from freeloading.

Bicurintx: It doesn't demand a response and I do think it is flattering. However there are also people who follow blogs with malicious intent. I'm not asking for a comment to everything and I respect that some people like to retain their privacy. I was just wondering is all. Certainly I am allowed that.

TMK: I hope that isn't the type of lurker I have something tells me that it isn't the case. I'm not to worried about it just wondering.

Rooster: Quality is always more important than quantity. I never feel obligated to reply to someones blog because sometimes I just have nothing to add. However I wouldn't watch someones blog for any long period of time and never speak up.

WetfingerAZ: I suppose we all have them. I don't begrudge them nor would I make any unwelcome except if they attacked people inside here.

Night: So all I have to do to hear something from you is post a picture of a video game character. It doesn't really matter that people don't post. Though to read all the time and never say a thing it just leaves me wondering is all. I have no problem with it I'm just curious as to why.

Header: Well I certainly don't expect everyone to respond nor do I expect a reader to respond to every post. Certainly I can't do that either there are times where I feel I don't have enough knowledge on the subject to add. Don't feel obligated to reply to anyone I don't I do try to when I can. At times I am pressed for time as well.

Header you certainly have a knack for writing so don't down yourself there. You write very clearly and have a way of explaining things real well. Also when you feel strongly on something you have a way of expressing your feelings very well without resorting to vulgarity.

There is alot of talent on this site for sure. Which is why I wonder sometimes why people bother to read my scribblings. I've never claimed to be well written though I wish I was.

Hmm.... a recurring lurker! Well, maybe they like what you have to say! Or maybe they're worried you;re going to say seomthing bad about them. WHo knows?

I rarely notice my lurkers. I have a lot of people looking at my blog that never write a thing. It doesn't bother me. I'm writing for myself most of the time, anyway. There's some people that I wish would come to my blog & comment, but that's up to them.

Have you commented on that person's blog?

IannaH: Well sometimes I feel the same way about others blogs. I welcome anyone to speak though whenever you like or welcome to read if thats all you please to do as well.

Phoe: Yeah I hear that I do wonder sometimes perhaps I shouldn't be so worried about it. I think its just an interested reader perhaps she liked what I had to say on the AL. I have only one hateful fan but I least the feeling is mutual there.

Hippie: I have alot of visitors to mine as well though I have noticed one in particular that has been coming for a long time. I would comment on their blog if they indeed had one or at least look at it. I guess this person shall remain mysterious.

Hey Flagg, thanks for the compliment. I think I do OK at expository writing but when it comes to plumbing the depths of the soul and expressing feeling in a creative or artistic way, I just don't compare with some of the bloggers. I know my limitations..

You are absolutely allowed that darlin'. I wasn't saying you weren't. But I am curious about something, how do you know somebody's intent is malicious if they aren't saying anything?

Obviously I have no clue what their intentions were at all. Though I certainly do have some people who don't like me who would have no qualms about multiprofiling to get at me. In fact in the past someone made a profile Flagg_134 cut and pasted my pic sent emails out trying to deface me. Fortunately the situation was defused before my reputation was damaged.

Also on a friends blog as stated above she had someone who would just read and then sniped at her. Its probably benign and I probably just scared away a reader kind of feeling bad about it now. As it seems many took this the wrong way.

Fitbloke, like Phoenix says, don't forget I need a visit from you, too, with a gift. I don't know where the big "gift" idea came from, but I'm just gonna work with her!

Flagg, my man, naturally I haven't blogged long enough to notice lurkers. I am shocked by all the odds and ends of people that wander by. If I had noticed on specific person day in and day out, it would probably raise an eyebrow.

In the meantime, like Header and a couple of others have said, I might wander by a blog, even of those I know, and not contribute a word. In fact, people who leave a comment for no other reason than to be one of the bloggers who leaves the most posts on other's blogs annoy me. I don't need their drivel.

Again, like Header, I don’t say anything unless I have something to say. I also find myself at a loss to find any words to express myself when I come across a particularly profound blog entry.

I have people that come to my blog and never say anything, and one person posted finally and mentioned being a long-time reader...It's a little odd, sometimes, thinking of random people coming in and peeking in on my thoughts, but I put them out there, right?

I often wonder why they return and never say anything. I have a few blogs that I often visit and I try to post once in a while. I found that if I don't feel like saying anything in return after a while I will stop watching their blog. I guess it feels less like I am intruding; silly eh?

But I've shared your curiosity, and a couple of times will go and check out their profile.

It's also a mystery when I notice someone that posts on my blog but doesn't seem to post anywhere else. In that case I wonder what the draw is and why they haven't felt like saying anything to anyone else. I like it, in a way.

An ex called me last week and said he had been to my blog recently and I went looking for his handle and it wasn't there. Unless he's made himself a multiprofiler and I don't know it...that kind of annoyed me that he had been around and can still be around, not saying anything (esp about stuff I have mentioned about him) but then he calls me out of the blue to mention it. Ick.
