I'm such a dork

Well I went out on saturday night to have some drinks and celebrate a friends graduation from college. It was a great get together we made fools of ourselves as usual and we managed to find a girl for the lucky grad. We all got a little hammered but thats the beauty of living in NY no one needs to drive when you go out.

Anyway by the time we reached the bar I realized that I didn't have my keys on me. I locked myself out of my apartment. I live in a three story walk up. Normally I would ring someones bell to open the front door and let me in. This time though I had to break in because it was 3AM. I tried using my job id to jimmy the lock on the front door to no avail (I have done it before).

Instead I had to get up the fire escape somehow so I went around to my back yard which was conveniently empty while the fire escape was about 12' above the ground. Fortunately it was garbage day and I managed to salvage a chair and paint bucket to make reaching it possible. So at this point looking pretty suspicious I managed to pull up myself up slowly to the fire escape bracing my legs against the wall for leverage. I get up to the roof but someone has locked the access . I climb back down to my window fortunately only the screen was down. Which I easily poked through with a pen and managed to do minimal damage still going to need a new one but its hardly a problem. One more obstacle in my way I have a gate like thing that unlocks so the key was reachable but obtainable it was on top of a nearby shelf so I banged against the shelf until it fell onto my bed creating quite a mess but it got the job done I crawled in closed my window and crashed exhausted.

Now I need to find out if there is anyway to get my keys grafted to something that way its impossible to forget them. I don't feel like going through that adventure again.

Hmmmm & they call me a 'blonde'.

Im fortunate as i always use my back door to go in & out, J is the only one who uses the front door.

My back door has to be locked with a key as its a 5 lever mortice so i cant lock myself out, otherwise knowing me i would.

Mum has a spare set of keys though for our house so im saved if i have a mishap.

I stuffed if i lose my car keys though as i only have one set.

As ditzy as i can be i never have a problem forgetting/losing keys.

I bet i have just jinxed myself now.

Damned if that sucked for ya Flagg....ben there and done that.....once I even broke the damned window to get into my house....which then led to stray cats creeping in until I found a way to fix it up....Eddy got me a keychain that says Keys I haven't Lost yet....I still have it....it is bright orange and so even when I lose my keys the color of that helps me find them....and I always lose them in obvious places....that seem to hard at the time....fortunately with my sobriety i have only since locked myself out once....landlord had a set of keys though to get me in as I had been going there to pay the rent...

there is one place i can think of grafting your keys to...
although when you do the one,two shake in the men's room, you're liable to attract some attention from the jingling.

Heheh.....I've locked myself out of every place I've lived so don't feel too bad. The worst time I got stuck in a window because it was the easiest one to break into, but I overestimated on the width I think. I eventually shimmied my way in, but I realized months later that you could jam the back door and get it to open...sheesh.

Phoe: Please I've seen everyone do it. I'm not so bad with it my best friend has a bad habit of locking her keys inside of her car so now she has a car that wont let her lock the driver side door without her key. Don't worry I feel you pulling that same stunt soon and then it'll be my turn to laugh.

Gypsy: I had to break my screen although its only a tear I taped it up for now and needs to be replaced. I've never lost my keys there are a huge mess of em. I just forget to take them at times which is very bad.

DBG: I wouldn't wish such a thing on anyone. All I have to say is OUCH!!!

LS: Neither can I all to painful and having them as earrings would weigh my head down too much. Your more then welcome to offer any suggestions on what to do. What could you possibly have in mind?

SSS: Damn right I need a lock like that. I'm so bad about forgetting things probably because I don't carry a bag to throw all my stuff in like women. Normally I feel when I don't have my keys but it slipped my mind somehow.

Real36C: Aint that always the case. I think the landlord fixed the downstairs lock because I had broken into it so easily the last time. I swear the nerve of some people!

just have the keyring put through like a prince albert piercing. but you don't want to overload the key chain, you'll be tripping over yourself. and imagine the check through at the airport security gate,

dear friend, i would have opted for doing it myself... BUTT i was wearing only a towel!! and it likely would not have held up through the dense rose garden!!

Heh. I did that a few months ago. I left to do laundry. I got the laundry, the detergent, the softener, my quarters... Shut the door, reached in my pocket for the keys, so I could lock the deadbolt too and realized the keys were on the kitchen table. Luckily, the downstairs doors don't lock automatically. So, I left the back door unlocked and went to the deli down the block and asked to borrow a knife. They thought it was funny as hell. I was thankful that I go in there often enough that they know I belong in the neighborhood. I'm also glad I did this at the back door, where the moulding is pulled away enough from the previous residents locking themselves out that the knife worked. Had it been the front door, I would have been screwed. I wouldn't have even been able to call a locksmith, as all my ID was locked in the apartment too.
