Why I blog on this site.

Well folks, it’s been a rough couple of days in Blogland. I know I am not the only person who has experienced problems, but I can honestly say in three months of blogging here, I have not had as many problems as I have endured over the last three days.

But I am not here to bitch, not in this post anyway.

In an earlier post - SHUSH, you!! I'm Asking the Questions! ‒ I explained why I blog in general, the reason why I engage in blogging anywhere.

After all the whining, bitching, and complaining I’ve done the last few days, some of you are probably wondering why I am still here if I hate this place so much. I write this post tonight to answer that very question.

The simple, short answer is that I remain because of you. I know I have many regular readers who check by my blog everyday, often many times a day, just to see what I am writing that day. Some of you comment and tell me to keep at it. Some of you email me and lend your support. Many of you come in, read, and leave without ever saying a word, but I see you visiting me regularly; you simply choose to remain silent, and that is just fine. I know you are there, and I appreciate your time and attention.

I recently received two wonderful emails from members. I want to share a few lines from each because these two emails are much of the reason I am still here after the nonsense I have encountered with the site the last few days. Had it not been for these two emails and the supportive blog comments I have received in recent days, I would have dumped my blog for good.

This first excerpt is from a much longer email. I would post the entire email, but to be honest, the author wrote so many powerful compliments that my modesty prevents me from posting all of it. I will include only one small sliver of it:

…You could not possibly have intended this particular outcome when you wrote that post, but wrote it and post it you did. And for the unintended effects that your words had on this lost, wandering soul, you have my friendship--if you desire it--and always my heartfelt gratitude.
You must have been touched by the Muse at birth. Keep on writing, I know I'm going to keep reading as long as you do....

The second email was shorter, but still just as riveting. This person wrote:

your words move me. wish i was a publisher so i could share them with the world. i may never visit barnes & noble again as long as you continue writing.

Emails like these two coupled with support many of you give me through blog comments give me the patience to continue. They make me realize I have been given a wonderful gift, the ability to touch hundreds of hearts and minds without ever leaving my home. I cherish that gift, and I am very reluctant to leave. Some of you on here are as close as family.

Even so, I will leave if things to not improve very soon. I have already found an alternative blogging site that I like better than this place, and I have set up an account. If I do choose to move onto a different service, I will do every thing I can to let you know where I might be found.

I do not want to leave, but I will not tolerate these problems much longer. I am waiting to see if anything improves after the convention. If there is not a noticeable improvement by Thanksgiving, I will leave. I may go earlier if things remain as problematic as they have been in recent days. If I leave, I promise I will not disappear without leaving a trail of bread crumbs. Folks who want to find me will be able to do so.

And in the immortal words of U2...

'I will follow... I will... follow'

To be honest with ya mate, all this site is for me is an opportunity to blog now, and that has been it's and my saving graces.

It doesn't matter to me where as long as I can. I don't have the fanbase you do... so my leaving would be less painful.

Leave the crumbs or name the site

Either is fine for me. Your writing is worth the effort

5er I will not try to dissuade you from a course you decide as I feel your a man who has come into your own. You have found love which is a great thing but just since we have chatted you have changed and I believe for the better. Your writing also reflects your changes and whatever you decide as your friend I support it.

Bulging, the site is not going to improve. They have had time and opportunity to make changes, and things have gotten worse instead of better. I think they are running us off on purpose. I will let you know if/when I go. Thanks for backing me up.

Papy, I'll miss my friends if I go, but I've had just about enough. I've been patient, but my patience is at an end.

Slide, thanks so much for the support. I will be sure to tell you where I am going, even if I have to get sneaky.

Karma, I don't want to, but I am not happy here. If things do not improve soon, I will go.

Synn, your support means a great deal to me. Thank you for dropping by and letting me know you are with me.

Thanks, Dano. I'll be sure to stay in touch with you regardless of where I go.

DT, nope, not far at all, darlin, but I think it is I that is the lucky one!

Traveling, You have more time vested in this site, and stand to lose more than I. If you want to go, your company is welcome, because I'll need all the help I can get when I stage a revolution at my new blog home, but I understand if you choose to stay.

Albert, she does sum it up nicely. I've been saying it for a long time. The numbers simply are not in our favor.

NBTNT, I won't. You'll know something as soon as I do.

Jez, if the site gets fixed, we can all live happily ever after here in Blogland. That's the ending I am hoping for. Time will tell.
