SHUSH, you!! I'm Asking the Questions!

I’ve been blogging for about seven weeks now ‒ not long, I know, but it has been the longest anything has held my attention in some time, and that is significant, to me, at least.

From what I’ve seen in my limited time in Blogland, I’ve noticed that many folks end up with a sort of running theme or atmosphere in their blogs. Especially among the really popular blogs, you can usually expect a certain kind of content. This makes perfect sense to me, because it is a direct result of the author’s personality, interests, and writing style, coupled with any motivations they may have to be blogging in the first place.

If you’ve read though the growing blob of text that is boisterously building in my blog, you may have wondered what I’m trying to do here. I’ve thrown down all kinds of stuff since I started it ‒ insights to my character, fiction stories, erotica, humor, thinly veiled political commentary, thoughtful observations, and poetry. There really doesn’t seem to be a common trend emerging yet, at least, not one that I can see.

So, tonight I am going to explain why I blog, and I have a few questions that I want to ask you all in an attempt to clarify my understanding of a few things. Your comments and participation are GREATLY appreciated.

The Reason I Blog:. It’s simple, really. I like to write. Fiction, candid observations, humor, erotica, poetry ‒ I like to write it all. I don’t have any driving reason or goal behind my blog; I’m not trying to find myself or heal my soul. I do write some times because it helps me organize my thoughts when I have a problem, but most often I write in this blog because I enjoy an interactive audience. In these seven short weeks, many of you have become my friends, and as such, your opinions, comments, and advice have much worth to me, even when I don’t agree with you. (for instance, I am sure TDA1 likes TravellinginTexas only because his initials spell “TiT” and TDA1’s love of boobage is renowned across all of Blogland. TDA1 denies it, but I know it’s true.)

But that’s it. That’s the reason I blog ‒ nothing fancy, no super cool reason. I blog because I like to write and because I like to communicate with the rest of you.

I have three questions that I would like to have answered. I’ll still love you if you don’t answer them, and please don’t worry/expect your answers will change the way I do things here at my I-69 Rest Stop. For good or ill, I have no intentions of changing anything. I’m just curious to know a few things.

1) What do you expect when you visit my blog? Or, to say it another way, what is here that keeps you coming back for more?

2) If you could flip a switch in my brain that controlled the things I write, would you set it so that I wrote more fiction, more poetry, more erotica, more humor, etc. Or would you leave it just as it is?

3) Do you have a favorite entry in my blog? If so, please tell me what it is and why you like it.

Whether you take my quiz or not, thanks for reading. Please stop by again soon. I don’t know what I’ll be rambling about next time, but it might be worth reading.

great questions....so I will attempt to answer (i'll even attempt to do so in a serious manner...errr maybe)

1) what do i expect? well i expect naked pictures of you... and i continue to do so in spite of the fact you keep letting me down.

2) flip a switch? naaah leave it as is. I love random. Not knowing what will be here is way better than knowing ahead of time.

3)I dont have a favorite entry, but I do have a favorite "thing". I love your use of language, the way you turn & twist it is interesting. "..my dick is a compass & her house is sexual north" is a good example of the way you use language....always clever & interesting & often surprising.

now if you could just work out the whole naked pics thing...

1) I'd say...I don't know, you just seem to be coming from a similiar perspective as me.

2) Your have a great sense of humor, so I'd go with that.

3) The killer webcam is good, but this gun one has potential. It depends on the reaction.

sj365,

1) I would post naked pics of myself for your viewing enjoyment, but there aren't any to post, not one in the whole world (unless you count baby pictures.) I'd have some taken, but I'm not comfortable enough with my appearance to do that right now. I'm working on that, though. If you're willing to wait a little while, I'll accomodate you. I do have one picture where I did a cannon ball off of a 40-foot cliff and busted the ass out of my cut-offs. You can see my legs and part of my butt... that's the closest thing I have right now!

2) I am glad you enjoy my erratic subject matter. I don't know if I could be predictable if I wanted to be.

3) I can't explain where stuff like my "dick compass" comes from. It just flows out while I am writing. It's like my brain goes into overdrive when I write, and so many different images float around until some of them find some way to weave themselves into what I'm writing.

onelittlesecret,

1)I understand what you mean, especially after spending some time on your blog today.

2) My sense of humor can be really dark sometimes to the point of being morbid at times. I try to keep it mellow or slapstick on here, but sometimes the darker stuff seeps through, like the killer web cam post.

3)I am also watching the new gun post to see what happens. I'm a little surprised that AdultFriendFinder let it through. They get silly sometimes when a post deals with violence or weapons. I figured the concealed weapon post would be allowed after they let me write about shooting people in the head with web cams.

It's my first time here. I'll get back with you after I've read a bit more.

Sil,

1) those are great reasons, just the kind of things I hoped to read.

2)I am gld you like the eclectic selection. I couldn't stick with one thing if I tried. My mood and thoughts dictate my blog format and content, and I seem to have the ability to control either my mood roller coaster or my train of thought, but not both at the same time.

3) Are you talking about that poem? You're email didn't specify exactly which post you were talking about, and I actually wrote a couple of posts related to the same subject. If you are talking about the poem, I have another one very similar to it that I am thinking about posting in the future, but I haven't decided if I'm going to or not. If I do, I think you will like it too.

Definite Trouble,

Welcome to my humble little rest stop! I hope you enjoy what you find here. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

Sil, in regards to the boat, it's still on my agenda; I am going to have it, and while I'm still young enough to really enjoy it too! But not this year... The place I'm going to work for has an office in Florida, somewhere on the coast. Maybe I can get transferred down there and just buy the boat instead of a house.

sil, that was what I figured. I just wanted to make sure. The details are important to me!

1.) What do I expect? More fantastic writing, well that brings me back plus I think I have a crush on your brain. Well, and I have found myself fantasizing about movies, offices, *sigh*, you leave me all excited no matter what my mood.

2.) I love all your writings. That is part of the fun of visiting your blog is the variety and the skill with which you wield words.

3.) My favorite...well I love Sam and Sarah, and well, Mirrors is another favorite. But I also like your humorous posts, your serious posts, hell, I like it all. Your blog is like an addiction for me. You rank right up there with my addiction to Anne Perry, Laurell K Hamilton, & Elizabeth Peters (sorry they're all chicks, but I like their books and they all write series that I'm hooked on like crack).

1) What do you expect when you visit my blog? Or, to say it another way, what is here that keeps you coming back for more? Addicted to ya baby........ you're a hard habit to break (ya so what if that's a song also)

2) If you could flip a switch in my brain that controlled the things I write, would you set it so that I wrote more fiction, more poetry, more erotica, more humor, etc. Or would you leave it just as it is? Keep it as is!!

3) Do you have a favorite entry in my blog? If so, please tell me what it is and why you like it. The poetry..... yup, definately the poetry.

Awesome blog hun! I have only been blogging for a short week or so. I like to write as well but have only been 'babbling' in short bursts... I haven't all you entries so can't answer your questions fully or appropriately. I love to read people's thoughts, so in my opinion whatever is on your mind, whatever is honest is what I'd like to read about.

Ana,

1)I've never had anyone with a crush on my brain before. There have been a few who wanted to crush my skull, but I think that's different from what you meant (I sure hope so, anyway!)

2)The variety will continue, I promise.

3)I've never been associated with established authors before. This is one of the best compliments I have ever received. Thank you!!

Traveling,

"Speedy" is fine. "Speedo" is not. Please do not get them confused.

Oh, and I am sorry about your coffee and your computer. If AdultFriendFinder will approve that pic, I'll post it just for shits and giggles.

1) Strong, the dark side is! I make some effort to tune out some of the darkness that seeps out of my head occasionally. I figured no one wants to be depressed all the time, and I'd lose people if I got a reputation for consistently being a morbid, morose read.

2) The variety helps me keep things lighter. It keeps me interested in writing too. (Did you just say BOOBS? You did! YAH! Boobs!)

3) You go ahead and keep putting words in my mouth all you want. As long as that's the only thing you try to put in my mouth, we'll get along fine.

One other thing: The confirmation number I need to enter to post this reply is "666" No lie. Coincidence? I think not.

44DD,

1) I'd devise a 12-step program for you, but I rather enjoy having people addicted to me. That's a great song and a great band, BTW. My personal favorite from them is 24or6to4, which has nothing to do with the subject at hand. I just like that song.

2) I intend to keep my blog as it is. I was just curious to see what others think.

3) I am glad to have a definite poetry fan. I am pretty insecure about the poetry I post here for two reasons: It's either brand new stuff that I haven't had time to refine, or it's old stuff that I don't really like but don't mind putting on here because I'd not be too horribly upset if some one ripped it off.

I have lots of others, but I won't post them here because I worry about copyright issues and plagiarism. I have a personal website that has lots of other poems and stories, but I am pretty selective about who I invite to it, because of the plagiarism issue again.

Before I thought better of it, I tried to post the URL to my site in a blog entry, but it got blocked. Emails containing the URL were likewise "lost by the system."

So I hid it in a blog entry. After I did it, I decided I didn't want just anyone hitting my site, but I left the hidden clue anyway since it was obvious that no one picked up on it at the time. So it's still there. That's all I'll say about it. I've already told you the most important part of the secret, the fact that it exists.

I mean, a person can't look for buried treasure unless they know it exists, right?

If anyone looks for it and finds it, when you get to the site, you’ll have the ability to contact me anonymously outside of AdultFriendFinder. Please do so and let me know that you found me.

beevan1, thank you very much for dropping by and saying hi! I hope you continue to visit me in the future! Everything here isn't true, but it's all honest.

Oh dear heavens...... does that mean I have to read everyone of your posts (again)?

C'mon give me a hint, pretty please? Pretty, pretty please?

Email my a.f.f acct ok?

44DD,

That would be cheating. That would be unfair. You mean all the world to me, but like Meatloaf said, "I just can't do that."

Ok, ok, quit trying to hypnotize me with those breasts! How did you get those pasties to swirl like that? That's amazing!

While your mammary mind tricks have no sway over me, ol' 2 1/2 Speed is particularly vulnerable to such antics, but you knew this, didn't you? Of course you did.

So at his behest, I will say one more thing, and to be fair, I'll put it here instead of emailing it. That way everyone can see it and I won’t be accused of playing favorites:

The best mystery tales start at the beginning
and reach the end by going clean through.
While reading the last page first is not sinning,
I’d do like good mysteries do, if I were you.

One last tip to ponder, my dear friend:
if you find you are contemplating thought,
you’d best go back a ways and search again,
because you’ve missed the riddle I wrought.

1 - Something that can make me laugh, make me cry, make me think and sometimes make me horny. (sorry did you only want 1 answer)

2 - I like your blogs because you never know what your going to get (read above answer) and I like it like that.

3 - The Heart Vs Brain would have to be my favourite mainly because you made me think about my life and you made me make my 1st post in blog land.

Madkitten,

1)Multiple answers are just fine! To be honest, it is a strange feeling to know I can cause such an array of responses in some one. To know my words have a real impact on some one makes me stop and think for a moment. It's a sobering thought.

2)That's cool. You know, when I wrote that question, I was thinking some one might not like the way my subjects skip around, but no one has said so. Then it occurred to me that people who don't like that probably aren't checking in to say so. Duh!

3)It s an honor to know I was the stimulus behind your first post. You've given me a number of implied compliments with your comment here today, and I appreciate them very much. Thank you!
