Doomed to fall away

I think I am doomed to fall off the list, even if my comments are restored. I used to have my finger on the pulse of Blogland, but I think I do not any longer. I’ve been posting this Shadow Infraction story as fast as I can write it, and trying to mix in a little controversy and humor with it as I go, and the response has been… well, I have a strong core of supporters who keep me going, and thank goodness for them, but besides them, response has been nearly non existent. I’m not even getting the number of views I am used to getting.

Then today I skipped through Blogland and dropped in Saint Lianna’s blog. Her poem on dog shit has over 20 comments, and another one soup, skittles and potato chips has nearly 50. They were funny and witty. I commented in one of them.

But my point is that some where some how I’ve lost touch with what people find interesting. My views and comments are at an all time low, so I take that to mean I must not be writing things that interest people as much as I used to do.

I notice the decline started somewhere around the time I actually started trying to put some substance into the posts I was writing. I got more attention when I just wrote something half-assed about what ever came to mind whether it made any sense or not.

But I am not going back to that. I have to write what is in my head, so Shadow Infraction will continue along with what ever comes out of my head along the way. I am slightly disappointed and disillusioned by the state of affairs, but it’s OK. I’ll keep writing anyway because I have to. I can’t stop.

Yes, but you will carry on because the bug to write is in you, no matter how much or how little the appreciation. (I need my fix again soon mister writer man, btw!)

My views fell off a while ago....and I've yet to break 400 comments.

I won't share my views on why that is.

Later!

but you weren't blogging for the sake of blogging and blog wars.. so who cares?

Mate!
I'm with you there! I've never had my finger on the pulse of anything (necrophylia has it's disadvantages) but I'm damned sure I deserve more views than I get.

Of course... I don't really, but you I think do. The stuff I write is humorous mainly to myself, and that's cool. It gives people a better idea as to who I am as a person. I don't know what the story is to be honest. What strikes everyones chord or at least a majority is a bit of a mystery to me. Still... so is coordintated dressing.

Even if noone comments on Shadow Infraction... it's fucking brilliant. So don't stop. OK? That's just a strong request. I'm not telling you to keep going with it, but it would be nice if you did.

Rock on dude.

I got by by writing nothing of any substance whatsoever, but I'm not here to vent my feelings and eomtions. My job is to make someone smile.

Spoken like a true writer. I have read your serious attempts at writing and find them wonderful, compelling. I am here to read, write and study the styles of others who do the same. I would much more rather have a few faithful readers than a horde of onlookers that are in a constant state of flux, you cannot read their reactions, really, there is no consistancy in the composition of the crowd. Write for the readers, not the passerbys. I can only imagine that the number of solid, core readers will decrease in proportion to the increase of new blogs being started every day. Have you looked at the number of new blog created everyday? Where are their readers going to come from? My crowd and your crowd, that's where. Write for you, hon, and sharpen your skills and develope your craft.xoxoxo

Five, you continue to write what you want, I might not make posts on everything, but I still read it.

Don't worry bud, you're just in a transition stage.

Cool story BTW, I like it at least...

Five, I would never want you to change your writing style just because more people may want more fluff than substance. Don't be disappointed; the tastes of the masses have and always will be fickle.

Jez, sure thing hon. I’m always happy to chat with you about anything.

Bulging Boy, I am challenged by coordinated dressing myself. Thanks for the support with Shadow Infraction and for making me laugh. I plan to have new chapters of Shadow Infraction posted Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I hope you like them!

Trav, do what ever you do best, my friend. Some of your stuff is really deep, dude!

Daphne, I am glad to have such devoted friends. Thank you, sweet heart.

Barbie, how did you know I like to be on top? Have you been talking to DT?

Streak, I have often wondered the same, but I’d never accuse anybody of such a thing, not directly any way.

Albert, you do a good job of it too, buddy. I thought you’d like to know I’ve decided to stop with the jack handy quotes. Blog on, man!

CountryCookin, you have a very good point. I always hate to lose a steady reader. I LOVE to see new faces coming through my blog, but you are right; it is great to have steady and consistent readers who continually come back for more, no matter how terrible or silly it may be that day.

Kitten, I’ll continue writing, darlin. Thanks for letting me know you’re still interested.

DT, if you look behind you, you will see I am very close to my passion, and following you very closely.

OLS, Glad you still like it. I love your poetry, man. I can’t write the stuff you write. It impresses me every time.

ShortSweet, you are right. Thank you for the wisdom, darlin. I really appreciate it. I know you'll come around to see me even when I'm just an obscure has-been.

I'm with shortsweet.

When I was young I almost chundered eating asparagus, and I kept looking at the candyfloss wondering what the hell I did to earn the healthy option.

of course... back then... bulimia *was* considered healthy.

my fickle tastes have changed a lot since then, although I have never tasted a fickle... maybe that's why they changed?

and remember 5er... if you ever become a 'has been' at least you *have* been, that's more than most folk can say

Ana, you are right. I have to continue. I already have your next fix served up. mam!

konkali, I know, darlin. I tried to stay out of all that bullshit the best I could. I would like to have the comments back because I don't y'all to have wasted your time typing them, and I do enjoy the visibility and accessibility being on the list affords.

Huny, I am sure you can do it. You'll always have me in your corner when it comes to writing. If I can ever help you out with anything, even if it's just to read it and give you an honest opinion, please let me know.

Jez, we do have a room. We have a couple rooms, actually.

DT, I love it when you blush!

Bunny, demon spawns know lots of things, as I am finding out.'

T, watch it, buddy. I have a meat hook with your name on it.
