Stick A Fork In Me...I'm Done

Alright, I have had it!!!!! Two weeks ago I went to my doctor because I had bronchitis. I got antibiotics and a cough syrup with codine to help me sleep at night. I got better.

Well, my two youngest kids got sick this week, and what happened? I got sick again. I waited a few days before going to the doc's again and when I woke up this morning I thought I was going to die. I couldn't breath, I am coughing so badly I can hardly talk, my ears felt like they were going to explode and I have a fever on top of it all.

I swear that when one person gets sick in my house it takes forever for the damn sickness to leave. It just keeps going in a big freakin circle. So off to the doc's I went today. Sure enough, bronchitis, ear infections, swollen glands. YUK!!

So I came home, took my meds and got right back into my pajamas. Then I forgot something in my car. I went outside to get it then BAM. Two cars drive by of people that I know and they stop to talk. I looked like hell, felt like hell. But I put a smile on my face to say hello.

I'm done. I hate being sick, especially when the kids are sick. That means no rest for me.

When someone in your house gets sick does it go around in a circle?

No young kids at this point so it's not the same. One benefit of sleeping in separate rooms and living mostly independant lives where I'm not there that much is not much chance for the illness to spread. Even when we weren't sleeping separate as a rule the wife would go sleep in the guest room to avoid getting sick. Although she didn't mind sleeping in the same room with the kid when she was sick.
Feel better.

I have to admit that sleeping with a sick kid is much different than sleeping with your sick spouse. The spouse doesn't need you as much as the kids do.

illness at our house is like a game of go fish .... "do you have any spots" "yup... go fish. have any smelly juices coming outta your nose" "yup ... go fish. have any coughing that turns into little blue smurfs that steal your tissues? " ...etc ... by the way .... bet you didnt look like hell, bet ya cant, heck, maybe, some off days you could look like the dmv ...sure, we all can, but hell ? nope, not a chance cuteness.

Sorry to hear your not feeling well Today!.....As for around my house, NO...we dont pass sickness around. I clam up, no touching, no kissing, dont even talk to me if your sick. I hate to be sick, so I dont open that door to others!

Hope your feeling better soon!

I wish I could keep myself away from the family when I'm sick. It just never seems to happen that way.

I think that it is different when children are in the house. When I'm not feeling well, I usually retreat and rest when possible. When kids are in the house, that isn't always possible and everyone pushes themself to just keep going.

in the meantime...sure hope you are feeling better!

Just a little food for thought.............

Yup... same problem here... especially in the Winter when we are all in doors and things just longer... lots of rest, lots of OJ, and open those windows...

If it were not so humid out I would have all the windows open. Unfortunately I am a baby when it comes to heat and need my air conditioning. I am feeling a little better though.

Very true about kids needing mom more that a full grown man does. But not when they are 15 to 17 years old. Not for a normal cold. Something serious I can understand.
But hey, I am a grown man and a kid is a kid at any age and needs to feel loved especially when sick. Point taken.

firestarter665 replies on 6/14/2006 2:54 pm:
Ok, if my kids were 15 and 17 I would give them cough meds and send them back to bed without me (unless if it was serious like you said).

Mr. Fire can be a pretty big baby when he is sick though. He needs more attention than the kids.

(What the fuck is this shit..?? *rolls eyes*)
