Everyone is now sleeping in my house and I am sneaking on the computer to say hi to all my friends.

Today was my nieces first full day here. We did not do anything special, she is trying to get used to the time change. I did take her to see a family friend of hers and to get her a book. She loves to read and we went to the small book store in town. She found a book in a series that she has been reading and was thrilled with the purchase.

After dinner we talked. I found out that movies that are coming out on DVD for us aren't even in the thetres yet in Finland and the tv shows as well. Also, when she went to take a shower this evening, she came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel confused as to how to turn on the shower.

I did find this quite amusing and wondered how I would react in a different country. I probably wouldn't know my ass from my elbow.

She is one great kid and I can't wait to go sightseeing with her. It is like showing someone a whole new world.

Alright, I am going now. I have to catch the end of Windfall. I am really engrossed in this television show.

See you all soon!

I had to force myself to stay awake in order to get on the computer. But it was well worth it.

when I went to Germany years ago I learned something very interesting. I didn't realize how much things could be different. We all have ways of solving probems and doing things differently. And when it is in something one the order of a national standard, like the way toilets are made, it can be disconcerting. You get so used to it being one way all over your own part of the world you don't think it could be different anywhere else. In Germany when you sit down for a number 2 it doesn't Drop into water. it goes onto a dry ledge. the water is further back and when you flush it gets pushed back into the water and down the drain. They did this to make it easier to get a stoole sample; avoided the whole fishing expedition. Who would have expected that.
