Sad and Amazed all at once

Today I attended the funeral of a 21 year old firefighter who died in the line of duty. This was my first firefighters funeral. I was saddened by the circumstances. It left me thinking "What if that was Mr. Fire?". I pray everyday that he comes home to me. I pray for all the families that have to go through something like this.

But I was amazed at how many firefighters come to show thier support. Today there was an estimated 3,000 firefighters that came to pay thier respects. It was a sight to see. When they call each other brothers, they mean it.

It touches the hearts of so many people when a firefighter dies. Not only the brother firefighters, but thier families as well. It makes me wonder if we are all living each day to the fullest.

Please love each day as if it were your last. Show the people that mean something to you that you love them. Don't fight over the small things in life. Take time to enjoy the life that is so precious.

Love you all!

Btw, the pic is of the actual funeral.

Of all the firefighters there on the day, not one would have had a dry eye. The loss of a brother or sister firefighter is one of most gut wrenching feeling that a firefighter can have, he or she knows it "could have been me", but we move on, we continue to response to calls knowing that they are now our "GUARDIANS" and they will always be with us!!

You may find this web site of interest, it contains some of the best fire art I have seen and it will explan "The Guardians"

Don't forget the Sisters!!! yeah, Firefighter funerals are amazing, when four Seattle firefighters died in an arson fire in '95 - they came from everywhere! Australia, New Zealand, Africa....all over the world and from all over the states. Once I was road-trippin through California and I stopped by The Santa Barbara Fire Dept. I told them I worked for Seattle, and I wanted to know where a good restaurant was, (and make some T-shirt trades)....instead of getting a room at a motel, they let my dogs and myself stay at the station and fed me a great dinner! True family! Thank you for this post!

There is nothing better than the family of firefighters. We love, laugh, cry and mourn as one!

Thoughts and prayers with you,

(What the fuck is this shit..?? *rolls eyes*)
