Need Cheaper Hobbies (Or Cheaper Friends)

Ah, only in public service can a person be gainfully employed with a law degree, and still live paycheck to paycheck! lol I had a buddy of mine in from New York this weekend, so he, his cousin, and I all hung out. I decided to try to keep up with them...mistake!!!

By way of background, my two friends are both MBAs with jobs that earn them a CRAPload of money. So our first stop were the casinos in Indiana. Managed to lose $200 in 10 minutes at the blackjack table, then watched as my already rich friend won over $100.

So, pausing briefly to burn my "How To Play Blackjack" book in the parking lot, we went to a strip club nearby. Dodging sniper bullets on Cline Avenue, we made it. Dropped $50 on a lapdance. Granted, it was worth it...private room where she grinds on your lap until....well...until you get your money's worth.

Then on Sunday, they said they found a golf course with a twilight tee time rate of $40. Great! I haven't tried to play all year, and would really like to work on my swing some more (I'm a complete newbie to golf, by the way). So we drive all the way to the suburbs to the course. Once there, I discover first that the greens fees were actually $55. THEN, it turns out that's PER PERSON!!!!!!! Crap! So, I paid $50 to play a course on which I had to skip several holes because there was too much water (I told you...I'm very new to golf), and the damn balls cost $10 extra.

So, now I sit with $200 to get me through the next two weeks. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time watching my prepaid cable and surfing my prepaid internet, digging through my cupboards to see if I still have any ramen noodles left over from college. Anyone need a cheap date?

You've just said in 5 words, what I tried to say in 4 paragraphs. You've outblogged me!

Well said! Thanks for the comment!

We all have to live with the consequences of our actions don't we? Guess you won't be trying to impress them again, eh?

Burning the "How to Play Blackjack" book was something you should have done BEFORE you went in the casino. That's too funny. They saw you coming with that one!! Casinos don't write those things to help you win you know.

Remind me to be the dealer next time you want to throw your money away playing Blackjack.

Very funny. If it's all the same to you, if I'm going to give you $200, I'd rather have the lapdance!

We'll just have to see if I can improve my game without all the losing money stuff. Or is that called counting cards? lol I need a bigger book!

Keeping up with the Jones' can certainly hurt the wallet. At least you decided to forgo the water trapped holes.

Thanks, GJ. I figured it was either skip those holes, or just throw my wallet into the water.

Woohoo!! Give me the $200 and I'll teach you how to play (and win) at black jack...then your wallet will be doing a very happy lap dance all the way to the bank. You don't need a bigger book darlin' you just need more practice. Practice makes perfect.
