Getting Suspicious About AFF & Spammers

Okay, so I spent a few weeks gathering research to write a General Advice magazine article, Secrets To Beating The Spammers. I submitted it a day ago, and have not gotten the email that says it has been approved, nor does it show up yet in the article list. Obviously, the entire article is about how to keep people from responding to profiles that are faked by spammers to gather email addresses.

I am becoming suspicious because when I wrote my first article, an Erotic Story called The Night You Came Over, it was approved within a few hours. What could AdultFriendFinder be doing with my new article? Why would they maybe not want it to be posted? Is there something AdultFriendFinder is not telling us about their relationship with the fake profilers? Things that make you go, "Hmmm..."

I encourage all my Loyal Readers (all 3 of you!) to go and read the new article, before it becomes shredded on the floor of the AdultFriendFinder editing room. There are important things there that every member should know, and things that I believe will make all of our experiences more enjoyable here.

Update: Thanks to a Loyal Reader reminding me, I forgot that I had to specify that so far, my article has not been approved by our friends at AdultFriendFinder (3 days and counting!) It does not appear in the magazine. The only way to view it is through a glitch in their programming, where you can follow the above link to read it, even though it's not yet approved. Hope you find it useful!

Think the guys run into more spammers than the women, but know I get plenty of them. Usually pretty easy to sift through with only one brain to work with. I can be as mentally challenged as the next guy, yes I mean guy, by visuals, but I still know that if its too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

Never occurred to me that there would be fakes/spammers. Know there are plenty of people who are fake, just didn't imagine what I've seen and heard. Its amazing the lengths people will go to make a buck with no regard for how it effects others.

Your harem is growing. Lucky boy!!!!!

I agree, Cookie (aka Loyal Reader #1...lol). Guys do run into it more that girls do. I'm not sure many women here understand the extent of the problem. Let's say I do a geographic search for Chicago...I would put money on the fact that only 1 in 50 resulting profiles are real. The rest are all junk. How else could I have nearly 1,000 "matching" profiles? Those odds are kind of hard to deal with, especially as a paid member.

Thank you for checking in (again!). It's so nice to come across genuine people here, especially those as fun to have around as you! For anyone reading (the other 2, now 3 of you), please check out Cookie's blog. It's good times.

WOW! Loyal Reader #1...I'm honored (picture skirted stillettos in deep curtsy), thought I was #3 or something. You really DO know how to make a girl feel special. WooHoo!!! Thanks also for mentioning my blog...never imagined anyone would read it, let alone like it or advertise for me. You're sweet. I wouldn't imagine that a paying member should have to go through all the fakes....that should be for the free members (but then, they don't have any money - LO. Nice to know that the usual undesireable 10%ers are actually the desireables here...never been a 10%er before. *smiles warmly*

Read your article through the link provided on this page. Went to the Advice section of Mag first, and couldn't find it....got tired of scrolling through pages of stuff I didn't want to read. I'm impatient that way (blushes slightly). Very good and well written. its obvious you put a lot of thought into it and I like your writing style. Posted a comment....your column looked lonely without a comment *smiles warmly.*

Thanks for clearing that up for people, Cookie. I forgot to specify that so far, that article has not been approved by Big Brother at AdultFriendFinder. However, through a glitch in their programming, the only way to read the article is through the above link. It does not show up in the magazine at all! (Hence my suspicion)

Thank you for the kind comments ! I'm very glad you found my efforts interesting!
