helping at the retirement community

This past weekend I was invited to help some retired people at a local retirement community with their computers. My Aunt and Uncle had recommended me because neither one of them had a clue how to work a computer until I helped them.
It's a nice place some people have apartments some have small homes on campus. They had community rooms and every one has high speed Internet. The problem is that most of them have no idea what they can do with their computers except play card games and send messages to their friends.
I spent an hour and a half showing a group of about 30 people how to use the Internet and various search engines. I showed them how to use a web cam. They were quite pleased and asked questions for over an hour and a half after I had finished my little presentation.
One lady, lets caller Marge, about 70 years old and all of 4'10" and maybe 90 pounds said that she had been unable to get on the Internet for a couple of weeks and couldn't figure out why. She asked me if I could come to her apartment and figure out what was wrong. I agreed because she was a friend of my aunt and uncle.
Her apartment was a neat as a pin. If my place is ever that clean I'll be shocked. It only took me a couple of minutes to find the problem. She had pulled the cable to her modem loose when she was cleaning. It was only partly plugged so it wasn't hanging loose. I made sure it was plugged in and her connection worked just fine. She was very happy.
Then she asked me how to install her web cam and I did it for her showing her every step and explaining what I was doing. She is very bright and caught on right away. She was all excited about having what she called a video telephone!
Then she frowned and said I suppose I will have to be careful about walking around my home nude from now on! I laughed and said only when you have the web cam on! Then she laughed and said I guess your right. I gave her my phone number and told he that she could call whenever she ha a problem.
Being nice is never a bad thing so help someone when you can. Someday you may need help yourself.
