Surviving the Rubenesque 101

"Slow Dancing" to Tango Barocco....

The elegant seduction used by the courtier as opposed to the despotic players of today that 'exceed certain boundaries of moderation."

"We know that the essential thing for the practice of irony, as also of sprezzatura, is dissimulation: a trick, or at any rate a detachment, a discrepancy between being and seeming. A dissumlation obviously is intended to the disadvantage of someone. Whose, and of what sort, is this deception? [...] In order to understand this communicative process, it is necessary in my opinion to postulate a structure that is not simply dyadic (emitter-receiver), but at least triadic. We must admit, in the case in question, a bifurcation of the receiver, the public, into two parts, one of which in not necessarily present on the scene. One of those parts will recognise an instance of sprezzatura or irony for what it really communicates, and thus sanction its success; the other will take the action of affirmation at face value, admire, without recognising, the sprezzatura or irony. In other words, it will serve as its victim. The price it pays will be its exclusion from the club of the happy few. To put it differntly, sprezzatura is the test the courtier must pass in order to be admitted to this club, to obtain the recognition of his peers.

I've haven't read this much double talk since Norm Crosby used to do his routine on TV. Ah, but if you are aluding to the seduction contained in the art of dance, then I completely understand the rhythm of the moves and sensuality when a couple are close to each other, lightly brushing against one another that produces a smoothly stimulating feel. Add in the gentle beat of the music and couple swaying in tune, the feel of each other's warmth and scent. It can definitely serve as a prelude to a kiss.........

ahh Bogey.. it's o.k. Norm Crosby huh... thank you. I've been double talking intellectuals since I was a child. They were all around me. .learned scholars, and highly respected pillars of the community. Just to see the disgusted, confused look on their faces as I would move from rational to irrational thought, and then back again, was, I admit, a sadistic form of entertainment for me. *sick* huh.. However, I refuse to retract because my stomach really hurts from laughing and there are those that know who this post is intended.

I guess that is why you intrigue me. You need to be alive both above and below the neck. It all works together.
