Always look at the bright side of life

This will be my only post on an experience which changed my view on life. Due to reading many other stories, posts in blogs, etc. I thought about how can I do something for them or at least give them a small support. So feel free to read it.

I am called to be an ice-cold person, due to making judgement of people fast by seeing their attitude. Whereas the others do not know that their halo just shows what/who they are.

I have been called a hard person for others. But I just follow some basic rules and know that without basic rules there is no freedom. Which leads to massacres like war and excessives. (Note I am not religious and respect others positions/opinions).

I have been called a racist by a stupid fellow who did not know I was coaching a basketball team which had players from Philippinnes, Croatia, Russia, Uganda, Nigeria, and Holland all together in one team.

I do not worry about money or death. It will turn out anytime, but you can work on it to make it better yrself. Whether it is money or health.

And the reason for this is:

During a misty/foggy evening in february I was driving back home on a road in our polders. Suddenly I was stopped by a small traffic jam, people out on the road, walking around to one point. A car had crashed into another, two persons terrible hurt in the front seats, one a young kid, the other his father.

With two others we noticed that the kid was falling away, and we took him out, hardly any sign of heart beat or breathing. Blood came out both ears. The other person was a policeman of duty and together we tried to reanimate the 12 year old kid. He did heart massage, I did the mouth-to-mouth breathing. We continued till a paramedic appeared. The sensors where mounted fast on the kids body but no sign of activity of the heart. Two times electrical shocks were applied till the paramedic declared the kid to be dead.

Out of the fathers sight we had to put him in a body bag. With the kids blood on my hands and jacket I came home.

Since that day my motto is: always look at the bright side of life.

DP....what a sad experience that must have been for you. Death is a terrible thing to happen so suddenly, especially when it's a child.

As for people calling you cold, hard, and whatever else....they DO NOT know you !! To me, you are a real Gent, a great person to talk to and very funny. We all have our views and Standards, even on here...

So yes.....that's a great motto, and I will keep it in mind.

Thank you my dear friend

Yes......it does put life into perspective. But I hope it does not make you a colder person.
